Uchiha Chiga spoke just as Vados appeared beside him. Hearing his words, she froze in surprise.
Marcarita's face turned visibly red. Without even glancing at Vados behind Chiga, she snapped angrily,
"What do you mean by tattling?! Vados was clearly the one who made the mistake first! If I reported it to the Grand Minister—how is that tattling?"
"Otherwise? It's a trivial matter. Why are you so worked up?" Chiga asked casually.
"Trivial?! Do you even understand what she did? Whether Vados abandoned her post or traveled through time without permission—those are serious offenses! Would I be wrong to bring her back?"
"What kind of issue is that? The universe won't collapse without one Angel. And as for time travel—so what? It's not like she brought back Grand Zeno himself."
"Nani!? You—you dare mention Zeno-sama!?"
"So what if I did?" Chiga smirked. "I'm not a god of his universe, so he has no control over me. And speaking of abandoning posts—didn't you leave your own universe to come here?"
Marcarita's confidence faltered. She usually only bickered with Vados, but facing Chiga was another matter entirely. Her tone weakened as she muttered,
"It's different. My God of Destruction knows I'm here. But the one Vados serves is still asleep—he doesn't even know she left…"
"What use is it if the God of Destruction knows? Angels outrank them in the first place. Reporting to your subordinate when you travel? That's backwards logic. If you've got the nerve, report it directly to the Grand Minister—or to Zeno himself."
"I—I…"
Marcarita's face flushed crimson. The twin tails of her hair even bent slightly, as if bracing from embarrassment.
Finally, she huffed, "Fine! I get it! I made a mistake too, okay? Let's just say I didn't see anything today! Are you satisfied!?"
Chiga's lips curved faintly.
"Satisfied with what? I'm not your father."
Marcarita's eyes widened. Trembling, she pointed at him.
"You—you—!"
"What 'you'? Can't even form a sentence? Vados is your elder sister, right? You just made her upset. Shouldn't you be asking her for forgiveness? Honestly, what a troublesome little sister."
The line struck like lightning. Marcarita froze midair, speechless.
Vados couldn't help but laugh. It was the first time she'd ever seen Marcarita so thoroughly defeated—and strangely, it moved her.
Apart from the Grand Minister and Grand Zeno, few could match Angels in power or pride. Yet here was Chiga, standing up to one for her sake.
Reaching out, she gently brushed dust from Chiga's shoulder and said softly,
"Thank you for standing up for me. You're not hurt, are you?"
Chiga smiled.
"I'm fine. But honestly, you didn't seem scared of her anyway. Why thank me?"
Vados shook her head with a faint smile.
"Even so, I appreciate it. Sometimes… I wish you were in my universe."
Chiga chuckled. If only she knew—he'd barely figured out which universe he was in himself.
Marcarita finally snapped out of it, glaring at the two with a teasing smirk.
"Well, isn't this touching? Vados, why not apply to replace your God of Destruction? You could just fly off together with this guy!"
Vados's cheeks turned pink. She didn't reply—perhaps because the thought had genuinely crossed her mind.
Chiga turned to Marcarita with narrowed eyes.
"What's your problem now? Do you want another fight, or are you just here to irritate me?"
Marcarita flinched, shrinking back slightly. She fiddled with her staff, pretending indifference—but her eyes kept flicking toward Chiga.
He noticed and frowned.
"Hey! What are you staring at? This has nothing to do with you anymore. Go back to your universe."
Marcarita's shoulders drooped, and she muttered, almost pouting,
"But you still haven't answered my question."
"What question? I don't remember you asking anything."
"I asked you at the beginning!" she said indignantly. "Who are you? You never told me your name! Don't you think that's rude?"
"Oh? You do know the word 'rude'? When you first appeared, I thought you'd forgotten what manners were. You looked down on everyone like you were staring out your nose."
Unable to outtalk him, Marcarita turned to her sister with a dramatic whine,
"Sister~ Look at him!"
Vados sighed. "Marcarita, where did you even learn to act like that?"
"From Earth, of course!"
"Oh? So you've stayed on Earth too?"
"Uh…" Marcarita's face went pink again. She had indeed spent time there—and had thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now exposed, she huffed, "Fine, I admit it! That planet is really fun, okay? Maybe I got carried away…"
"You're at least honest," Chiga said, crossing his arms. "So, what did you find so fun?"
Her eyes lit up instantly. "The TV dramas! I could watch them for days!"
Chiga almost sighed. Great. One Angel became obsessed with food, the other with soap operas. What's next—an Angel fan club?
Vados asked curiously, "Which show did you like the most?"
Marcarita proudly declared, "My Brother-in-Law Fell in Love
with Me!"
Chiga deadpanned. "...From now on, you're banned from watching TV dramas."
