The kiss changed everything.
I felt it in every cell of my body, a quiet revolution taking place beneath my skin as Ronan's lips moved against mine. His hand cradled my face with a tenderness I never thought him capable of, while little Rhys cooed softly between us, nestled in the crook of Ronan's other arm.
The sacred pool lapped gently around our calves, still glowing faintly with the remnants of the Goddess's vision. Time seemed to suspend itself in this perfect moment—the moonlight, the water, the kiss that was rewriting everything I thought I knew about boundaries between wolves and humans.
When we finally broke apart, I couldn't stop the smile that spread across my face.
"What took you so long?" I whispered, surprising myself with my boldness.
Ronan's eyes, usually so sharp and calculating, held a warmth I'd never seen before. "Fear," he admitted simply. "The same fear you've been carrying."
