I woke up to sunlight streaming through the bedroom windows, my body feeling surprisingly refreshed. After yesterday's marathon healing session, I'd expected to be completely drained, maybe even sick. Instead, I felt... good. Really good.
Rolling over, I found Kaelen watching me intently, his green eyes studying my face. He'd probably been awake for hours, keeping guard while I slept.
"Morning," I mumbled, stretching like a cat. "What time is it?"
"Almost nine." His hand reached out to brush a strand of hair from my face. "How do you feel?"
I took a moment to assess myself. "Surprisingly well, actually. Better than I should, considering."
Relief softened his expression. "Your color is good. I was worried there would be consequences to using so much power at once."
