Chapter 202 - Mother

I stood at the window in Harrison's study, watching the palace grounds bustle with activity below. Guards patrolled in formation, staff hurried with supplies, and delegations of wolves from various territories arrived in sleek vehicles. The war preparations continued despite my new status—or perhaps because of it.

"I can't even go shopping without causing a scene," I sighed, turning back to face Harrison. "Three different shop owners tried to give me their entire inventory for free. One woman actually cried when I touched her hand."

Harrison chuckled from his wheelchair, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Fame doesn't suit you, does it?"

"Fame? Try divine reverence." I plopped down in the leather chair across from him. "I'm not used to people bowing every time I enter a room or treating my words like sacred text."
