The Ether still hummed through my veins, making everything feel slightly dreamlike. Colors seemed more vibrant, sensations more intense. The memory of that vision—of our future with four beautiful children—filled me with a buoyant hope that made my heart feel like it might float right out of my chest.
"You need to rest," Kaelen said, his voice low and concerned as he helped me to our bedroom. His strong arm supported my waist, though I didn't really need it. "That was intense, Red. Reliving those kinds of thoughts..."
I turned to face him as we entered our room, placing my palm against his cheek. "I'm fine. Better than fine."
His green eyes studied me skeptically. "You're high on Ether."
"Maybe a little," I admitted with a grin. "But I'm also high on us. On that future I saw. On knowing we're meant to be."
