I adjusted the tablet on my lap, trying to find a comfortable position on the bed. My swollen belly made every position awkward these days, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The video call connected, and my heart fluttered at the sight of Kaelen's face on the screen.
"Hey," I said, unable to hide my smile. "You look tired."
Kaelen ran a hand through his dark hair, those green eyes I loved so much looking back at me from what appeared to be a moving vehicle. "Just another long day of meetings. How are you feeling? How's our little warrior?"
I rubbed my belly. "Active. I think he misses his daddy as much as I do."
"I miss you both," he said, his voice dropping lower. "Every minute I'm away from you is torture."
The depth of emotion in his words made my chest tighten. Three months ago, I would never have imagined myself so deeply in love with the imposing Alpha who had stormed into my life. Now I couldn't imagine living without him.
