I was in pain and suddenly I was not. I was alive and then I was not.
Why was it so dark in here? Where exactly was here? I slowly opened my eyes and saw.. water?
I was on a beach, I realized as I got up. I no longer felt any pain. The waters were crystal clear and the sand was white as snow.
Something landed a few meters from me. The sun was so bright I couldn't look in that direction. I was suddenly blinded.
"You should leave the way you came back, Maya. Your time has not yet come," a female voice said, and before I knew it, I was back in the darkness, back in the abyss.
Harlan cried for what felt like hours but was probably minutes. He laid his head on her stomach and prayed this was a nightmare, prayed he would wake up and she would be okay.
