Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Gone Without Goodbye

Arashi — The Club Office, Two Days Later

"Ken left?"

The words didn't make sense.

He stared at his sister Mikasa, who was frowning at the phone in her hand.

"I just got the message from his academy," she said quietly. "He took a coaching post in Tokyo. Left early this morning."

Arashi stood still, eyes unfocused.

> "No text. No goodbye. Nothing."

He pulled out his phone. No missed calls. No unread messages. Just silence.

> And that silence said everything.

"Maybe he told Souta," Mikasa offered.

That name made Arashi stiffen.

"No," he muttered. "He wouldn't…"

But something felt wrong.

A memory flickered in his mind — Souta leaning too close. Souta brushing off his questions. Souta always around when things fell apart.

His voice was quieter now. "Did Ken… say anything else?"

Mikasa hesitated. "He seemed… cold. Distant. He avoided eye contact last time. I thought you two had a fight."

> But they hadn't. Not really. Just distance. Growing. Slowly. Poisonously.

Arashi clenched his fists.

> "Something's not right."

Ken — Tokyo Apartment, First Morning

Rain pattered gently on the window as Ken unpacked in silence.

The apartment was small. Clean. Quiet. Exactly what he needed.

Or so he told himself.

His phone buzzed, but he didn't check it. He already knew it wasn't Arashi. Not anymore.

He sat on the floor, cardboard boxes around him, and looked at the one photograph he kept — him and Arashi sitting at the edge of the balcony, city lights behind them, laughing with their drinks in hand.

Ken stared at it for a long time.

Then placed it face down.

Arashi — Rooftop of the Club

That evening, Arashi stood where the city lights glowed beneath him, the wind brushing against his face.

Souta approached casually, holding two drinks.

"I heard Ken left," Souta said. "Shame."

Arashi didn't respond.

"Maybe it was time," Souta added, offering the drink.

Arashi took it — then paused. His gaze narrowed.

> "He never said goodbye. But you knew."

Souta blinked.

"You always know. You knew about the event. The job offer. Hell, even the exact date."

Souta's smile faded.

"I'm warning you," Arashi said, stepping forward, voice low. "If you had anything to do with Ken leaving…"

Souta scoffed, brushing him off. "He saw us kissing. What did you think he'd do?"

Arashi froze.

> The world tilted.

"What?"

"He saw it. At the studio," Souta said smugly. "Why else would he leave without a word?"

Arashi's drink fell to the ground with a crash.

> "You kissed me."

> "And he thought you kissed back."

And just like that, it all made sense.

The silence. The coldness. The distance.

Arashi grabbed his jacket and rushed out, heart pounding.

> "Don't go after him," Souta called behind him. "You'll only make it worse."

But Arashi didn't listen.

He was already running.

> Too late.
