Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

But now that it was basically free, Tracy didn't feel the need to be stingy.

Besides, she also needed some money to start buying the supplies she needed.

Next time those people came to trade, it would not just be a few small items.

Once they were better prepared, they would bring a lot of gold, silver, and jewelry.

At that time, she would definitely earn a lot of money.

1,500 yuan wasn't a lot.

If she bought rice that cost 2 yuan per jin, she could only buy over 700 jin.

She also had other things to buy, so this money was not enough.

She didn't have much in savings either.

Even if she used everything she had, it still wouldn't buy a lot.

But since there was only one small scavenger team, they wouldn't be able to trade much either.

Even if they had a lot of gold, they couldn't carry back too many things.

So she didn't need to rush.

Once they finished the trade, she would have enough money.

Before, she went to the supermarket just because it was convenient.

But if she needed to buy a lot of things, going to the supermarket was not smart.

So Tracy drove her car to the wholesale market.

There were many people driving to the wholesale market, but most of them used small vans or tricycles.

Tracy drove a luxury car worth over a million, so many people looked at her.

Actually, she didn't want to stand out either.

But she had to buy a lot, and if she didn't drive, she couldn't carry everything.

Taking a taxi back would also cost money, so she tried to save as much as she could.

At the market, Tracy didn't stay for long.

She already knew what she wanted to buy.

Twenty bags of rice, ten boxes of instant noodles, five boxes of bottled water, fifty jin of candy, some chocolate, and three boxes of salt.

After she brought everything home, she put it all into the space store.

It wasn't that she didn't want to buy more, but the store space was only ten square meters.

It couldn't fit too many things.

All of this cost her over 5,000 yuan.

If she couldn't trade these things for gold and jewelry soon, she would feel really bad about spending so much.

Tracy had a hard life over the years.

Even though she worked part-time while studying, she still couldn't save much money.

Just as she was about to rest, she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

Who could it be?

When she opened the door, she saw Shirley, her brother Cris, and two adults who looked like their parents.

"Shirley, why are you here?" Tracy asked.

"We're sorry for disturbing you," Cris said.

"After Shirley told our parents that you saved her, they scolded us.

They said we were not thankful enough.

So today we came together to thank you properly."

"You don't have to be so polite," Tracy said.

"I helped Shirley because it was the right thing to do.

But I don't think I told you where I live.

How did you find me?"

"I brought you back that day, so I knew the complex where you live," Cris replied.

"I asked the guard today.

Since we said we came to thank you, he didn't stop us and told us your place."

Actually, after going home, Cris looked up her information.

It was easy to find.

He didn't plan to tell her that, or she might get upset.

Cris didn't expect such a kind girl to have gone through so much.

She had no parents and worked hard to support herself.

When he saw in the records that she used to work several part-time jobs at once, he felt really sorry.

She was a strong and kind girl, so different from the girls he usually knew.

There were not many girls like her anymore, so she seemed very special.

"Since you're here, come in and sit," Tracy said.

She never helped others expecting anything in return.

She didn't expect them to find her home either.

But since they were being sincere, she didn't want to be rude.

"Thank you so much.

If it weren't for you, we might have lost Shirley.

You are our family's hero," Cris's mother said.

"Auntie, don't say that.

Anyone would have helped.

Shirley is such a sweet girl, no one would want her to get hurt," Tracy replied.

"This is just a small thank you.

We hope you'll accept it.

We don't mean anything else," Cris's father said as he handed her a bank card.

Tracy recognized it right away.

She had worked many jobs and knew this kind of card.

It was an anonymous card.

Anyone with it and the password could take out money.

She was short on money right now, but she didn't want to take it.

She didn't help to get paid.

"Uncle, what are you doing?

I didn't help for money.

I understand your thanks, but I can't take this.

If you insist, I'll get upset," Tracy said.

As she looked at the grateful family in front of her, she felt like Shirley's father looked a little familiar.

But she didn't think much of it.

"We know your situation.

Please don't be mad that we looked into it.

You just graduated and haven't found a job.

You were hurt and still need to rest before working again.

If you don't take this, we'll feel very bad," Cris's father said.

Tracy could see that Cris's family had money.

Even so, she didn't want to take their money.

Now that she had the space store, she could make money easily.

Even without it, she wouldn't accept it.

"Uncle, Auntie, I really can't take this.

I understand your kindness.

Even though I don't have money or a job, I believe I can make a living by myself," Tracy said.

Tracy firmly said no, and the two of them had no choice. They could only put the bank card away. They were very thankful to her. Shirley was their only daughter, and they had always loved her very much.

Yesterday, Cris took Shirley out to play. He did not expect to be careless. He let Shirley walk near the road, and she was almost hit by a car. When they got the news, they felt like their hearts stopped.

Luckily, Tracy saved their daughter. She stopped anything bad from happening. If something had happened to their daughter, they really did not know if they could handle it. But while saving Shirley, Tracy got hit by the car. That made them feel very guilty.

Thankfully, good people are rewarded. Tracy was not badly hurt. So today, they brought gifts to her home to say thank you. They did not think she would refuse their money.

Tracy was willing to risk her life to save their daughter, but she did not want anything in return. Since she did not want to accept the money, they respected her. Still, they would not forget what she did. They had some power, and they wanted to look after her. If she had problems in the future, they would help her to repay the kindness.

"Since you don't want the money, that's okay. But I have a friend who is hiring. I can help you get a job there. Don't worry. They will treat you well," Cris's mother said.

Tracy saved their daughter and did not want any reward. That showed she was a good person. Cris's mother truly wanted to help her find a good job.

Tracy understood they were trying to help her. If she had not bonded with the dimension shop before, she might really accept the offer. It was hard to find a good job on her own. But now that she had the shop, she did not want a regular job anymore.

"Thank you, Auntie. But I'm planning to open a small shop. So I'm not looking for a job now," Tracy said.

"Oh I see. That's fine. If you face trouble while setting up the shop, you can come to us. We still have some influence around here," Cris's mother said.

Hearing that, Tracy remembered why Cris's father looked familiar. He was Mayor Zhang.

She only said she wanted to open a shop to cover up her real reason. But now she felt maybe she should open one for real. She had a lot of goods coming in. If she did not have a good excuse, it would look strange.

Also, she needed a place to store her goods. Opening a shop could solve that. But she did not have enough money yet. After her next trade, she should have enough money to open a small shop in the real world.

"Thank you, Auntie. If I have any problems, I will come to you," Tracy said.

"We've been here long enough. It's time to go. You get some rest. If anything happens, don't hide it from us. This is your Uncle Zhang's phone number and our home address. Even if nothing's wrong, you can still come visit us. You're always welcome," Cris's mother said.

"Tracy, my birthday is coming soon. Can you come and celebrate it with me?" Shirley asked.

Looking at Shirley's cute little face, Tracy's heart softened. She said, "Sure. When is your birthday? I will definitely come."

"That's great. My birthday is in one month. I'll ask my brother to pick you up. You must come, okay?" Shirley said happily.

Shirley had her own little idea. She knew if she didn't ask, Tracy might not come to their house. She didn't want that. Her silly brother was no help. He couldn't even talk to Tracy properly. So she, the smart and cute sister, had to step in. She wanted her brother to spend more time with Tracy. Maybe then Tracy would like her brother.

Cris had no idea what his little sister was thinking. He did feel something for Tracy, but it was not clear. Maybe even he didn't understand his feelings yet.

After Shirley's family left, Tracy did not expect to see that little girl again. But she liked Shirley. Not just because she was cute. It was also because of Shirley that Tracy got the dimension shop.

If not for her, even though the shop was always around her neck, Tracy might never have had the chance to bond with it.

She would definitely go to Shirley's birthday party. But there was still one month. No need to rush. For now, she needed to handle her next trade.

At the same time, Shirley's family was already downstairs. Her mother said, "Tracy is really a good girl. She's not only kind, she's also pretty and gentle. It's not easy for her to live alone. You should take care of her."

"Don't worry. She saved our daughter. I won't let her be alone. She wants to open a shop, right? I'll make sure everything goes smoothly. No one will give her any trouble," Cris's father said.

Just as they left the building, Cris's phone rang. After answering it, his face became serious.

"Mom, Dad, take Shirley home. I have a mission. I won't come home tonight," Cris said.

"Another mission already? Today was your day off. I told you I didn't like you joining that special team. It's too dangerous. You should ask for a regular job. Then I wouldn't worry all the time," his mother said with concern.

"Mom, don't worry. You know I'm good at what I do. I trained with Uncle since I was young. My skills are strong. Most people can't beat me. These missions are not always dangerous. Don't worry. I have to go now," Cris said.

Then he quickly left, afraid his mother would try to stop him.
