Chapter 68 - mermaids and new land

Clyde's POV

As my ship moved across the sea, I couldn't help but notice there were a lot more summons than usual.

"Where are we going?"

"Father said to find mermaids—" I paused and slowly turned to find Melody, Crystal, and Moon staring at me.

My eyes widened.

"W-what are you doing here?" I stuttered.

"Oh, we were gonna surprise you when we felt the ship start moving," Moon answered.

"THAT WAS HOURS AGO?!" I yelled.

They all covered their ears.

"Return home at once. Mother and Father will be angry if they find out you three have disappeared," I ordered.

They paused and looked at each other.

"No," they said in unison.

"And if you try to teleport us back, we'll just teleport back ourselves," Crystal said.

I gritted my teeth.

"WE'RE GOING BACK!" I commanded.

The summons heard and started turning the ship around. I didn't want to return so soon, but I guess I'd have to delay my plans.

"STOP!" Moon shouted.

All the summons stopped moving and stood still. Shit, I forgot they listen to all of us.

I turned to all of them.

"Don't make me send a message to Father," I threatened.

They paused at my words.

"Hmph, if you do, we'll jump off the ship and you'll be in trouble," Moon said.

Melody and Crystal nodded along. My teeth clenched and ground against each other.

I slowly turned to Melody.

"Come on, Melody, would you really get me in trouble for this?" I tried to sound pitiful.

She froze at my words and fidgeted.

"I-I don't want you to get in trouble—"

"Don't believe him. Father won't be mad at him. He's just trying to trick you," Moon interrupted.

She paused, then looked between me and Moon. She looked quite confused. My anger was rising, but then I sighed. There was no point in getting angry.

They wouldn't be in danger anyway. With me and the summons, nothing would happen. Especially with Moon—she's almost surpassed Igneel in power.

"Fine, but make sure not to cause trouble," I added.

They looked at each other and then cheered.

"We promise," they said cheekily.

I sighed and turned to the summons.

"Continue sailing," I ordered.

The summons started moving again, and the ship resumed its course. Whatever. Father would probably be here in a few hours.

Erik's POV

I sat on my throne, Merida and Elsa on my right and left. Today was one of those days—an annual meeting with my generals. As I looked around, I realized Viggo wasn't here.

"Report," I said.

He's never been late. It might be important. I'll figure it out later.

Gobber walked forward. He knelt and opened a scroll.

"There were some problems on some of the islands near Berk, but it has been settled," he said. "But there is a pressing matter—the dragons seem to have become restless."

I looked toward Hiccup, who was in the crowd. He nodded and walked forward.

"I have talked with the dragons, and the information revealed is quite troubling. But with your power, it should be nothing," he said.

"Then tell me, what is it?"

"There is an ancient dragon. It seems to have awakened, and the dragons have sensed it nearby."

I paused at his words. An ancient dragon? I've seen hundreds of dragon species, and none even reach the rank of 50. How powerful could this dragon be?

Diastasi, give me the information on this dragon. Take the amount of points needed.

Just a few moments later, I heard a ding.

—Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus—

Rank: 90

A ginormous dragon over 990 feet. The dragon is on the verge of extinction, with only a dozen left. The two closest are the Light Fury and Night Fury. Though the Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus, Light Fury, and Night Fury all have different names, they are one species—the Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus being their final stage. The evolutions are as follows:

Hatchling

Broad Wing

Titan Wing

Primordial

There is only one dragon that has currently reached the Primordial stage, and that is the Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus.

This seems more dangerous than I thought. But with my current power, it should be more than enough to defeat the dragon.

"I will set out shortly to fix the problem," I said.

Hiccup and Gobber smiled before returning to the crowd.

"Next—"

Boom.

The door slammed open as Viggo ran in. He looked disheveled, like he hadn't slept in days.

He ran to the front and knelt down.

"I'm sorry to be presumptuous, but I have important information," he said quickly.

I've never seen him like this before. It must be important.

"Speak," I said.

He looked around, a little apprehensive.

"It's okay. These are all my trusted people—none of them will leak the information," I said.

He shook his head.

"That is not what I am worried about. This information that I am about to give is very impactful—"

I stopped him.

"It doesn't matter."

He paused but then nodded.

"I—" he paused. "I used my ability given to me by the genie. There will be a great battle in the future."

A great battle? There's nothing that could beat me. What could it be to make him so serious?

"Your Majesty and your children were fighting against other powerful people. But before I could pry any further, a being made of pure light and energy appeared and made the whole world tremble." His voice became grave. "You were slumped on the ground. But that was not the most frightening moment—it was when the light looked straight at me." He shivered.

I froze at his words. A being strong enough to see into the past. A being strong enough to defeat me. But how is that possible?

"It could be a god from another dimension," Diastasi said.

The room fell into an uproar.

Another god? No—I still have a trump card. When the time comes, I will use it. Though I hope it won't come too soon.

"Erik, if what he says is true, then we have to prepare," Hiccup said, stepping forward.

I raised a hand and stopped the commotion. I shook my head.

"Do not worry. When that moment comes, I still have something up my sleeve. Though I might lose my body after using the trump card."

"But—"

"No. I have decided. My words are final," I said.

Elsa and Merida looked concerned. A few hours later, the meeting finished and everyone left. Only Elsa, Merida, and I remained.

"Erik, will you really die after using your trump card?" Merida asked.

I raised an eyebrow and turned to her.

"Huh? When did I say I was going to die after using it?" I asked.

Confused, she asked in return, "You did say if you use the trump card you would lose your body, wouldn't you?"

I nodded.

"Yes, I just have to recreate my body."

Both their eyes widened.

"You can do that?" they asked in unison.

I nodded.

"Don't worry—I always have a backup plan," I smiled.

They sighed in relief.

"By the way, I don't sense Melody, Moon, or Crystal nearby," I muttered.

Igneel's POV

Wa wa wa

Hearing the baby's cries, I opened the door and entered. Mulan looked tired as she lay in bed. I rushed to her side and gently took her hand.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

She nodded.

"I'm fine," she smiled. "But how about you name our son?"

I paused and nodded at her words. I don't know why she didn't want to name our child. She said something about how normally it was the father who named the child, and that since she had named their daughter, I would name our next child in return.

I turned to the child and used my inspect.

Name: ???

Unique: (A Protector's Will: Power will double according to the number of people needing protection) (Divine Dragon: able to use all natural elements as well as transform into a large dragon.)

Woah, two in one go. That's really good. A good name for someone who protects, huh.

Baowei? No, doesn't suit him. Huwei? No, sounds weird on my tongue. Maybe a Scottish name.

Alasdair? No, it sounds too grand. Stewart? Sounds like a name for a butler. Evander? Not bad—I'll come back to that if I can't find something better. Edme? No, it sounds too simple. Maybe a few Viking names.

Maybe I should name him Stoick after my grandfather. I took another look at him and paused. He had this almost calm aura around him.

Actually, Stoick might not be bad after all. Stoick Horrendous Haddock the Second. Not bad.

I smiled and spoke.

"Your name will be Stoick Horrendous Haddock the Second. After my grandfather."

The baby cooed. I smiled as Yao walked forward and poked the child. Stoick laughed. Yao's eyes shone as she smiled and played with him.

Looking at Yao, I couldn't help but sigh. In a few weeks I need to return to Novus and do the ceremony to become emperor. Yao would soon have to become empress.

Hopefully it won't be too hard for her. But with her mature personality, it would probably be easy.

The only thing I have to worry about is her future husband. I have to make sure the man is capable.

Honestly, I don't even know what to do about that since she's never been close to a man.

I sighed and turned back to Mulan and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Hopefully the future is bright.

A few days later.

I stood in front of Rune.

"What do you mean, you want this kingdom?"

He didn't elaborate and just spoke in a calm tone.

"I've found something interesting in this kingdom and I want it."

What could be so interesting that he would do this? He knows that Father doesn't mess around when it comes to conquering.

Though he loves magic, it couldn't be that since he would just get it after I conquer the kingdom. It has to be something else.

That reaction and the look in his eyes. I've seen it many times.

"Is it a woman?"

He stayed quiet and just looked at me.

I sighed. "Fine. But conquer soon. Father will be upset if you stop the campaign. I need to conquer this kingdom before returning for the coronation."

He nodded at my words.

"Thanks," he said.

I waved him off. They say love is blind. I just hope the girl likes him in return.

Rune's POV

"How are you reading so fast?" Bell asked me.

I looked up from the book and stared at her.

"I was gifted this skill from my father."

"Oh, so does your father like reading?" she asked.

I shook my head.

"He doesn't particularly like to read. It's more his job."

What I said was true. Father has a lot of paperwork, and because of that—in his words—he developed it.

Though I felt like he was lying since he doesn't like to read and there are a lot of discrepancies in his explanations. I still don't understand how he's able to have so many skills and give them to others.

She looked quite confused but left it at that. I don't know why I was still entertaining this woman, but I don't feel repulsed like I normally would.

After I finished the book, I closed it and put it back.

"I will be leaving this town. I have some matters to attend to."

She moved and then stopped in front of me.

"Looks like someone's gone soft. Do I have a special place in your heart for you to tell me that?"

For some reason my heart seemed to skip a few beats, but then I calmed myself.

"Nonsense. I'm just informing you in case you wonder where I am," I said quickly.

She just smiled.

"Well, is this matter so important?"

I nodded.

"It is at the request of my brother that I finish this within a week."

"Oh, if it's family matters then I'll let you on your way." She smiled and moved aside.

I nodded and took out a small pendant.

"This is a magical artifact. Make sure you wear it at all times. It will protect you from harm."

She looked at it a few times and her eyes widened a little. She shook her head.

"I can't accept it. It looks expensive," she refused.

I forcefully put it into her hand.

"This is not expensive to me. Don't think too much and just do as I say."

She stared at the pendant in her hand for a few moments before she nodded.

"Thank you," she smiled.

I didn't say anything and left.
