# Chapter 84 – The Choice of Light (Vanessa's POV)
Pain shoots through my entire body like lightning. Every breath feels like swallowing broken glass. Blood pools beneath me on the cold stone floor of the ancient chamber.
I'm dying. I can feel my life slipping away with each heartbeat.
But my mind has never been clearer.
Damien kneels beside me, his hands pressed against the worst of my wounds. His face is pale with panic. "Stay with me, Vanessa. Just hold on."
Kieran stands over us both, his expression torn between rage and despair. "This is all my fault. I should have been faster. I should have protected you better."
I want to tell them it's not their fault. Want to explain that everything happened exactly as it was supposed to. But speaking hurts too much.
The artifacts pulse around us. Three ancient relics that have been dormant for centuries. Now they glow with increasing intensity, responding to something inside me. Something I'm only just beginning to understand.
