Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Chapter 12

 * Unspoken Secrets*

As I stood outside Vanessa's room after her furious voice had made me leave the room where I asked she stay for the moment.

I just don't know why she had decided to leave my pack! Was it because I advised her to tell me why or where she was going before the incident of the rogues attacking her, I just showed my concerned zeal about it and had nothing much to think of.

Even after Marcus told her how the pack rules work she still wants to leave the pack. I pray she would be able to fight only the rogues not inclusive of the omegas.

The silence she had been keeping within was deafening to me as I had to doubt myself if she wasn't a spy who was asked to find out more about the pack and how we cooperate.

The memory of her fiery gaze when I pressed for answers still lingered on me as I could recalled how she responded to me as if I was trying to get answers to some secreted questions she asked herself,

Still on me was the fueling of curiosity in me as I still found something wrong somewhere.

Why wouldn't she reveal what drove her to flee her pack? What secrets was she hiding? Or could it be that she was a spy? But if she was one then why was she attacked by the rogues?

The unknown questions swirled in my mind like a vortex, which was refusing to let go of my mind.

I took a deep breath and re-entered the room again,as my eyes were locking onto Vanessa's resolute expression as she saw me back inside the room . Her determination which I could tell was locked with questions on them was admirable to me, but I knew the harsh realities of the world outside our pack's protection. Even if she was a , I'm certain she can't fight all the rogues at a time and come out of it alive, she is so beautiful to toss with her life.

Rogues roamed the lands whenever the mating bond was approaching , as they roamed about seeking vulnerable targets to get hold of and it was that time to show how powerful each of them was.

As I stood there,I watched myself as I had lowered myself down more than what an Alpha could do. I knew I had the right to lock her up even with her state of health and I could make her speak if I wanted to but then I didn't know what made me feel lenient towards Vanessa.

Vanessa's silence had only heightened my concerns . As Alpha, my instincts screamed to protect my pack, and she was now under my care.

"Vanessa, listen up, I'm the Alpha of this pack and me being nice to you didn't make you keep the silence on me" I began,I made sure my tone was measured as I didn't want to sound so rude not do I want her to feel I'm using my power against her no problem. "I understand you're grateful for our hospitality, but leaving tomorrow would be suicidal. The rogues will scent you out, and we won't be there to defend you." I paced closer, my eyes burning with intensity. "What is it that you're running from? What's worth risking your life?"

Her gaze didn't waver, but a flicker of emotion danced in her eyes. Fear? Desperation? I couldn't quite grasp it. "I appreciate your concern, Alpha Morgan, you know what" she said while she paused for a while, her voice firm, "but my business is mine alone. I must see this through." The resolve in her voice was admirable, but I sensed a crack in her armor.

I studied her, searching for any weakness in her resolve. "You do have a choice," I pressed on. "Stay here, and we'll protect you. Our pack is strong, and we've dealt with rogues before. You'll be safe." For an instant, her expression softened, and I glimpsed a glimmer of hope. But it vanished, replaced by a steely determination.

"Thank you, Alpha," she said, her voice measured, "but I must leave. I have... obligations to fulfill." Obligations? The word hung in the air like a challenge. What could be so important that she'd risk her life?

I nodded curtly, respecting her boundaries, for now. "Very well. I'll have one of the pack members escort you to the border tomorrow." As I turned to leave, a sudden urge struck me. "Vanessa?"

"Yes?" Her eyes narrowed, wary.

"Be careful out there. You're not the only one with secrets." My words hung in the air, a veiled warning. Did she grasp the hidden meaning?

Her eyes flickered with surprise before she nodded. "I will."

"Suit yourself for all I care! I have offered the help we could and I think I owe you nothing, you can leave tomorrow as you wished. Have a nice day" I said to her with a straight face.

I had tried my best to stop her from taking such decisions but then I could see she is a head Strong lady so let her sought herself out.

With that, I left, giving her the space she so desperately sought. But my Alpha senses remained on high alert, sensing that Vanessa's secrets would eventually unravel, and when they did, I'd be ready.

As I exited the room, I caught the faintest whisper of a scent – a scent that didn't belong to Vanessa or my pack. A rogue's scent.

My heart sank. They'd already found her.

I swiftly summoned my most trusted pack member, Ryder. "We have a problem," I said, my voice low and urgent. "Rogues are closing in. Prepare the pack for defense. Will not let them take her."

Ryder's eyes narrowed. "Alpha, what about Vanessa? She's still determined to leave."

My jaw clenched. "We'll deal with that tomorrow. Tonight, we need to protect our own."

Little did I know, tomorrow would bring more than just rogues, and I pray her strong stand against this doesn't eat her up.

I needed to speak to Marcus for them to protect the pack while I went to have my rest, it had been a long, stressed day.
