Chapter 210: The Son of Destiny Used as a Bargaining Chip
"Well, it's Katakuri."
Seeing her son appear, Charlotte Linlin's mood immediately brightened. She smiled widely and said,
"Katakuri, my dear son, have you brought that boy—Ace?"
"Yes, Mother. He arrived at Whole Cake Island with me," Katakuri replied with a nod. He glanced at his startled brothers and sisters before asking,
"Mom, what happened while I was gone? Why are you so angry? Did something go wrong?"
Charlotte Linlin's face twisted with fury. "That damned girl Lola! She actually ran away from her marriage at a time like this!"
"What? Sister Lola ran away from her marriage?"
Katakuri's composure faltered. He knew exactly how crucial this marriage was to the Big Mom Pirates.
Relations between the Big Mom Pirates and the Giant Tribe had long been strained, but the arranged marriage between Lola and the Giant Prince Loki of Elbaf was supposed to mend that rift. Everyone had pinned their hopes on this union forming a powerful alliance — one that would let Linlin's crew sweep across the New World with overwhelming might.
If news of Lola's escape reached the Giants, that fragile chance at reconciliation would shatter completely — and their relationship with Elbaf might never recover.
"Didn't anyone try to bring her back?" Katakuri asked grimly.
Cracker, the Biscuit Minister and one of Linlin's Sweet Commanders, spoke with visible frustration.
"No one suspected she'd run. She's our sister, after all — none of us kept an eye on her. No one imagined she'd bolt at such a critical time."
"Forget it." Linlin waved her massive hand dismissively, her tone cold.
"I've decided to have Chiffon take her place and get engaged to Prince Loki instead. The two of them look almost identical. The prince has only met Lola once — he won't notice the difference."
Her eyes then glimmered with greedy anticipation.
"As for that brat, Ace... I'm very interested to see what he'll offer me in exchange for what I have. After all, he is his brother, isn't he?"
Katakuri's expression hardened.
"He'll definitely bring a price worthy of you, Mother. After all, he's the kind of man who'd go to war with the World Government for his brothers."
"Well, well, well... I'm looking forward to it."
Linlin's deep laugh echoed through the hall.
Indeed, the "thing" in Charlotte Linlin's possession — the one she knew Ace would risk everything for — was none other than his younger brother, Monkey D. Luffy.
Katakuri had known this all along. The only reason he hadn't told Ace earlier was simple: if Ace had found out back in his own territory, this would no longer be a negotiation — it would have been war.
---
Meanwhile, on the southwestern coast of Whole Cake Island, a small rowboat quietly touched the shore.
Three women stepped off the boat under the cover of night — warriors from the Kuja Tribe of Amazon Lily.
Their mission was daring and dangerous: to rescue a certain reckless fool who had, in his greed and naivety, robbed a ship paying tribute to Big Mom — and had been captured as a result.
That fool was none other than Monkey D. Luffy, the so-called "Son of Destiny."
---
After the Paramount War, when the Straw Hat crew was scattered across the world by Bartholomew Kuma, each member ended up in a place suited to their training.
Realizing their own weakness during the war, the crew decided to halt their voyage and undergo two years of training before reuniting.
As in the original timeline, Luffy was sent by Kuma to the region near Amazon Lily, home of the Kuja Pirates and ruled by Boa Hancock, the Pirate Empress.
When he crash-landed there, chaos naturally followed. Luffy caused a commotion that drew Hancock's attention — but unlike the original tale, she didn't fall for him at first sight. Instead, through his disarming honesty and reckless courage, Luffy managed to earn her respect.
Moved by his sincerity, Hancock permitted Luffy to train on an island near Amazon Lily and even assigned him three Kuja warriors to instruct him in Haki.
Those three women were the same ones who now risked their lives sneaking onto Whole Cake Island.
However, there was one major difference this time — Luffy had never truly experienced the deep agony of losing someone close to him. Although he understood he needed to become stronger, he lacked the desperate resolve born from loss. And since his mentors were not Rayleigh — who could rein in his chaos — his training often spiraled into mischief.
Every few days, he'd sneak off the island to explore, dragging his exasperated teachers along with him.
As everyone knew, Luffy's brand of recklessness was infectious.
At first, Marguerite, Sweet Pea, and Aphrodite (from the Kuja) had managed to keep him somewhat in check. But over time, they too got caught up in his wild antics. Eventually, all three ended up sneaking away from their training ground — only for Luffy to get himself captured by the Big Mom Pirates after running his mouth in the wrong place.
---
"Marguerite... are we really going up there?" whispered Sweet Pea, clutching her bow nervously as they disembarked.
"Of course," Marguerite answered firmly, her eyes burning with resolve.
"If we don't save Luffy, he'll die."
"But this is the territory of one of the Four Emperors," Sweet Pea said anxiously. "Even Lady Hancock wouldn't tread here lightly. If we're discovered, not only will we die, but it could start a war between the Big Mom Pirates and the Kuja!"
"Yes, Marguerite," added Aphrodite (renamed from 'Yafilandora' for canon accuracy). "Even if we manage to find him, we won't stand a chance against Big Mom's forces. And if our capture drags Amazon Lily into it, that would be unforgivable."
Marguerite's voice softened, but her resolve never wavered.
"Maybe so... but if we do nothing, Luffy will die. No matter what, I'll save him — even if it costs me my life. And if we're caught, we'll never reveal that we're from Amazon Lily."
"...Alright," Sweet Pea finally sighed, realizing there was no changing her mind. Aphrodite nodded too.
"By the way, Aphrodite," Sweet Pea whispered quietly behind Marguerite, "do you still have something to contact the others?"
"Yes," Aphrodite replied, pulling a tiny Den Den Mushi from her clothing. "Sister Kikyo gave it to me before we left. I can contact her directly."
"Perfect," Sweet Pea said softly, eyes flickering with hope. "Then when you get the chance… call her, and tell Sister Kikyo everything about our situation."
