Chapter 119 – He Is Coming, He Is Coming
"This brat…!"
Feeling the overwhelming surge of Haki, both Donquixote Doflamingo and Jack the Drought, standing nearby, narrowed their eyes. Their gazes sharpened as they focused on Portgas D. Ace.
BOOM! BOOM!
Ace's Haoshoku Haki (Conqueror's Haki) clashed violently with Doflamingo's in midair. The collision of these invisible wills crackled with lightning-like arcs, rumbling like distant thunder.
Ace advanced step by step, a calm smile on his face. His kingly aura poured out in waves, each step heavier than the last. With every pace, the pressure intensified until Doflamingo's own Haki was completely smothered. Invisible shockwaves radiated outward, cracking the palace walls atop King's Plateau.
Over the past year, Ace's Conqueror's Haki had been honed through countless battles in the New World. His will had become so sharp it could exert physical force on his surroundings.
(At such a young age, to wield Haoshoku Haki at this level…) Doflamingo inwardly admitted, (You really are the son of the Pirate King… you've inherited that man's kingly disposition!)
With a scoff, Doflamingo ceased releasing his own Haki. Though he had been overwhelmed in that clash of wills, his confidence in his true strength remained unshaken. Haoshoku alone did not decide a battle.
Ace also withdrew his aura and turned toward his comrades.
"Law, Cacus—head to the arena. Help Wores and the others. Leave this place to me."
"Captain Ace, you're alone here—" Law started, but Cacus tugged at his coat.
"Let's go. Captain Ace has decided."
With a beat of his wings, Cacus hoisted Law and soared toward the Corrida Colosseum.
"Hmph, staying behind all by yourself? What an arrogant brat," Doflamingo sneered, striding forward in his peculiar, loping gait. He lashed out suddenly—his long leg swung high, heel aimed for Ace's head. "Do you actually think you can defeat me?"
Ace raised his arm, blocking the strike with his forearm, the impact ringing out. His eyes burned with determination.
"Of course. Why else would I start this war?"
He pushed back with a surge of strength, forcing Doflamingo to give ground, then declared with chilling clarity:
"The blood you spilled… Lewis's blood… will be repaid with your life!"
"Fufufufu! Then by all means, try it!" Doflamingo laughed and struck again.
Ace ripped his hat free, flames swirling around his right fist.
"Hiken! (Fire Fist!)"
A massive inferno shaped like a clenched fist roared toward Doflamingo.
"Overheat!"
Doflamingo switched tactics mid‑stride, whipping his leg upward as eight thin, near‑invisible threads shot from his toes, slicing through the blazing attack. The flames split apart, rushing past on either side of him.
"Bullet String!"
Doflamingo flicked his fingers, launching thread bullets at blinding speed, each one reinforced with Busoshoku Haki.
"Kagerō!"
Ace swept his flaming arm outward, releasing a stream of fire that intercepted and incinerated the incoming bullets.
"You really did steal one of the most troublesome powers in this world, Fire Fist…" Doflamingo muttered, fingers twitching. Countless threads spilled forth, twisting together into a thick cable that he drew far back like a whip.
"Overheat!"
The massive thread whip blazed with Haki as it lashed toward Ace with terrifying speed. Predicting its trajectory with Kenbunshoku Haki, Ace's body dissolved into flames. The whip passed harmlessly through him and hurtled into the distance, cleaving a building far below in two with ease.
"Flap Thread!"
Doflamingo vaulted overhead, slashing downward with five thread‑like blades extending from his fingers.
"Flame Blade!"
Ace's arm erupted in fire, condensing into a searing blade that clashed against the descending threads.
Shkk!
The fiery edge severed the threads and continued downward, forcing Doflamingo to leap back. His feathered coat was sliced open across the chest, smoke curling from the scorched fabric.
Doflamingo's grin faltered. Ace's flames, fused with Armament Haki, were dangerous—destructive enough to threaten even his awakened strings.
Jack finally stirred. Watching silently until now, the Drought rose to his full towering height. He drew his massive scythe-like weapons, snorting.
"Joker, you're dragging this out. For just a kid, you've wasted enough time. Let me end him quickly."
Doflamingo's eyes darkened. His pride bristled at the thought of accepting help… but deep down, he knew Ace would not be easily defeated.
Before Jack could step forward, the air itself seemed to ripple.
High above Dressrosa, several figures appeared as if out of thin air. The sudden arrival drew every gaze—Ace's, Doflamingo's, Jack's.
Four silhouettes descended: three adults in strange Wano attire, and a small boy in a pink kimono, a topknot tied neatly on his shaved head.
Kin'emon the Foxfire, Raizo of the Mist, Kanjuro of the Evening Shower, and their young lord—Kozuki Momonosuke—had arrived, sent forward twenty years by Kozuki Toki's Toki Toki no Mi.
