Chapter 78 - Space Is Not Silence

Nina's first morning message arrived at seven twelve, containing one photograph of the article page she had finally submitted. No greeting accompanied it, though the image answered the ordinary question I had planned to ask. Basic contact preserved our shared life without promising that every painful issue had been resolved.

{Kofi: I am glad the editor received it. I hope you can sleep after class.}

{Nina: That is the plan. Your event briefing is at ten, right?}

{Kofi: Yes. I will send the public schedule after approval.}

Her continued basic interest in my day did not promise forgiveness or reconciliation. I answered the event question, sent no emotional paragraph, plus left the conversation after she reacted with one check mark.

The restraint lasted until nine forty, when the typing indicator appeared beneath her name. It vanished without producing a message, giving my fear enough empty space to construct several endings.
