Chapter 74 - A System With One Good Boundary

I waited until Sunday afternoon before opening the System's privacy panel again. Nina sat beside me inside the library garden, close enough to approve every test involving her identity or our relationship. We selected a public table with enough distance that no stranger could read the display.

We had written four carefully limited test questions on paper before summoning the interface. The test would ask what the System knew, whether it would infer emotion, plus whether refusal remained consistent after different phrasing.

"Read the boundary first," Nina said, tapping the top line with one finger.

"No question asks the System to create, alter, or reward a feeling," I replied, following our written condition, "you can stop the test whenever you want."

"Proceed," she said, keeping her own notebook open for independent records.
