Chapter 107: Black-Eyed Elder's Backup Plan, Touching the Martial Tablet of Fortune?

"It must be the aura of the Devouring Ancestral Symbol! Let's hurry to the center of the altar!"

Lin Dong was ecstatic as he spoke to Lin Fan and Qing Tan.

Lin Fan's eyes flickered slightly. He didn't say much, just nodded in agreement.

The three of them quickly made their way to the heart of the altar.

At the center stood an especially massive black pillar.

Atop the pillar was an ancient talisman array.

The array extended outward, connecting to every stone pillar around the altar—it was clearly the core of the entire structure.

The three looked up, only to find that the center of the talisman array was completely empty.

There wasn't even a trace of the Devouring Ancestral Symbol!

"How could it be gone?" Lin Dong froze for a moment, unable to accept what he was seeing.

"Let's investigate carefully. Even if the Devouring Ancestral Symbol has already been taken, there might be residual traces left behind," Lin Fan said.

Lin Dong nodded, and began to carefully examine the altar.

"There's something strange about this pillar," Lin Fan said after a while, touching the tallest central pillar. He gestured for Lin Dong and Qing Tan to take a look.

Lin Dong stepped forward and also placed his hand on it—immediately sensing something unusual.

"Try using your Natal Spirit Talisman to probe it," Lin Fan suggested.

Both of them channeled their talismans into the massive black pillar.

Soon, ripples of light began to appear on its surface.

The ripples intensified and gradually formed a black vortex. A faint suction radiated from within it.

Moments later, the group stepped into the vortex and were met with a memory projection left behind by the black-eyed elder.

After a meaningful exchange, the elder chose Lin Dong, the one who possessed the Stone Talisman, and engraved a tangible black symbol in the center of his palm.

He then offered a few final words of guidance before his memory faded completely.

"Brother Lin Fan, about that…" Lin Dong scratched his head awkwardly after they reappeared at the altar.

"It's fine. Everyone has their own destiny. It seems the Devouring Ancestral Symbol is fated to be yours. Once we find it, you can refine it," Lin Fan said casually with a wave of his hand. "Let's head back up. We still need to explore the inner parts of the Ancient Monument Space. The Martial Tablet of Fortune is no trivial matter."

Lin Dong finally asked, "What exactly is the Martial Tablet of Fortune?"

Lin Fan gave a small smile and explained the tablet's origins and importance to both Lin Dong and Qing Tan.

"Incredible… Something that mystical actually exists?" Lin Dong was filled with excitement.

"Let's not waste time," Lin Fan said with a light smile. He led Qing Tan and Lin Dong back to the surface.

Afterward, Lin Dong mounted Xiao Yan, while Xiao Huo'er carried Lin Fan and Qing Tan.

The three humans and three beasts soared toward the heart of the Ancient Monument Space.

Along the way, they saw countless others rushing madly in the same direction—toward the location of the Martial Tablet of Fortune.

Eventually, they reached the skies above a vast plaza.

Before them stretched an ancient square, thousands of meters wide and paved with blue stone.

A weathered, solemn atmosphere lingered across the space.

By now, the plaza was packed with people.

Lin Fan and the others scanned the crowd, their eyes soon settling on the center of the square.

There, atop a colossal stone platform, stood a towering, ancient stone tablet—completely blank.

A mysterious aura that seemed to transcend time slowly drifted from the tablet, filling the heavens and the earth with a presence that made one instinctively revere it.

Around the Martial Tablet of Fortune, many forces had already staked out positions.

The Four Great Clans had secured the closest spots.

At the Lin Clan's location, Lin Fan spotted the previously defeated Lin Langtian once again.

"The two brothers are here too!"

As Lin Fan, Lin Dong, and Qing Tan hovered in the air, many among the various factions also noticed their arrival.

Of course, most of the attention was focused on Lin Fan and Lin Dong.

After all, Qing Tan hadn't made a move in the monument space yet, and her strength was unknown.

At the Lin Clan's position, Lin Langtian's expression briefly flickered before he forced a calm demeanor and sat down silently.

Elsewhere, Wang Zhong of the Wang Clan had a flickering gaze, clearly wary of Lin Fan.

The Huangfu Clan, Qin Clan, and Demon Gate members also noticed the three figures in the sky, their expressions shifting subtly.

"It's Lin Fan and the others…"

Not far from the Demon Gate, the Yin Puppet Sect members wore especially ugly expressions when they saw them.

Teng Lei clenched his fists tightly. "Ignore them for now. Let them be arrogant while they can. The treasures of the Yin Puppet Sect aren't so easily stolen."

"By the way, Elder Cao was in the Puppet Nest… I wonder…" someone suddenly whispered, recalling the elder's absence.

Another muttered, "Sigh, Elder Cao probably didn't make it."

Teng Lei's chest heaved. He, too, had only just remembered Elder Cao—but didn't want to suffer the humiliation of returning to confirm his death. He had simply chosen to forget.

Taking a deep breath, he growled, "Once we leave this place, I'll have my father personally take action and kill them all to avenge Elder Cao!"

"Tsk tsk, quite the gathering. Though… seems most of them are your enemies."

High above, Xiao Diao sat on Lin Dong's shoulder, chuckling as he looked down at the crowd.

Lin Dong rolled his eyes. "Can you see anything special about the Martial Tablet of Fortune?"

"Nothing much to look at. It's just filled with endless martial techniques. That ancient sect probably embedded them into it long ago,"

Xiao Diao said lazily, waving a paw. "So-called comprehension is just establishing resonance with the tablet…"

As Xiao Diao continued rambling, Lin Dong's understanding of the Martial Tablet deepened, his excitement growing.

When Xiao Diao mentioned that the tablet had a tablet spirit, Lin Fan's expression shifted slightly.

Since the Martial Tablet had a spirit… could it be considered a sentient being?

If I touch it… I wonder if I'll get a reward?

As the thought crossed his mind, a gleam of anticipation flashed in Lin Fan's eyes.

He stared down at the Martial Tablet of Fortune with a look of interest.

"Let's head down,"

Lin Fan said after a moment of thought, turning to Lin Dong and Qing Tan.

They both nodded, and with a signal, Xiao Yan and Xiao Huo'er descended to the plaza.

Without hesitation, the three of them landed in the area closest to the Martial Tablet.

The expressions of those already in the plaza shifted slightly upon seeing this.

Some of the newer arrivals, who hadn't witnessed Lin Fan's strength firsthand, instinctively looked toward the Four Great Clans—waiting to see how they would react.

Unfortunately for them, no one from the clans stepped forward to object.

This silence made many in the crowd feel… uncertain.

Lin Fan ignored all of it. He stepped forward calmly, walked up to the Martial Tablet of Fortune—

—and placed his hand directly on its surface.

The crowd watched in confusion, wondering what exactly Lin Fan was planning to do.
