Chapter 266 He Chickened Out
"Our country's size is massive. In other words, we have a huge population and a huge market," Su Yuanshan said, slightly lost in thought before smiling. "Don't look at how poor we are now; one day we'll be wealthy. And no matter how technology evolves, no matter how far science advances, in the end, it still comes down to population. Look ten years ahead, twenty years ahead, even a hundred or two hundred years ahead."
"That's why in China, if Yuanxin continues developing based solely on its primitive corporate instincts, it could easily become an enormous monster."
Wang Chaoxin frowned and looked up. "Like Toshiba, Sony, NEC?"
"Heh, they don't even count. Japanese and Korean companies have to expand globally to survive. We're different. We could become a world hegemon just by developing steadily within the domestic market. And that's something we absolutely must avoid."
The four of them fell into thoughtful silence, and then both Duan Yongping and Wang Chaoxin glanced at Su Yuanshan with admiration in their eyes.
At that moment, Chen Daohua smiled and said, "If we're thinking that far ahead, then it should be structured as a wholly-owned subsidiary."
"Wholly-owned subsidiaries are convenient, sure, but the Industrial Park obviously can't be fully owned by Yuanxin right now," Duan Yongping pointed out, directly addressing the vested interests in the room — Wang Chaoxin and Chen Daohua were both business partners with Yuanxin. He chuckled. "A joint venture would be more realistic."
Wang Chaoxin and Chen Daohua exchanged a glance and then looked at Su Yuanshan together. Particularly Wang Chaoxin, who even winked at him. Chen Daohua simply smiled without saying anything.
Su Yuanshan sighed inwardly. He understood their thinking very well — they wanted to hold shares in Yuanxin but also maintain the independence of their existing businesses. It was only natural. In their position, he would probably make the same choice.
But from Yuanxin's perspective, he hoped for either continued cooperation or full integration under Yuanxin. Otherwise, future conflicts of interest would be inevitable.
After thinking it over, Su Yuanshan looked at them and finally nodded. "Since Big Brother Chen suggested wholly-owned subsidiaries, then let's go with wholly-owned subsidiaries."
"As for the valuation of the factories before the merger, a specialized evaluation team will handle the appraisal later, and Yuanxin Holdings will compensate the assets with shares."
Seeing Su Yuanshan ultimately nod in agreement, Chen Daohua and Wang Chaoxin both visibly relaxed.
Yuanxin Holdings, for now, only included the founding team of Yuanxin — in the future, it would be the sole company controlling the entire Yuanxin empire. Su Yuanshan agreeing to let them bring in part of their assets meant they were now truly aboard the Yuanxin ship.
"The organizational structure is the easy part. The tricky part is adjusting the personnel," Su Yuanshan said as he looked around at everyone.
Given Yuanxin's current efforts to streamline its structure, the highest rank available for the Industrial Park side would be Vice President, followed by Factory Directors, Technical Directors, Sub-factory Managers, Workshop Supervisors, and so forth.
"I'm not familiar with all the specifics here, so you'll have to work out the details yourselves," Su Yuanshan continued. "I also can't oversee all the different procedural standards."
"Alright, we'll form a coordination team this afternoon," Duan Yongping nodded, then turned to Jiang Qingchuan. "Old Jiang, can you organize the production processes?"
"Sure," Jiang Qingchuan nodded. "Actually, our production processes across the factories are largely similar. The differences are more about standards and habits, but..."
Now that he knew Duan Yongping was only temporarily managing the administrative consolidation, Jiang could focus entirely on streamlining the production process. As Su Yuanshan often said, the sooner they became operational, the better.
"I'll take a call," Jiang Qingchuan said just as his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and pressed the answer button.
"Hello, this is Jiang Qingchuan."
"Mm?" he said after a moment, and his face suddenly twisted into a strange expression. Covering the receiver, he turned to Su Yuanshan and said, "That kid's uncle from yesterday..."
Su Yuanshan raised an eyebrow slightly.
Old Lai?
"What did he say?" Su Yuanshan asked calmly.
"He's here in the SEZ, standing outside our factory gate, saying he's come to make amends."
Su Yuanshan was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly chuckled. "Tell him to come over here."
"Got it," Jiang Qingchuan said with a grin. "President Lai, we're at Yuanxin's Mobile Division right now. Come find Vice President Duan directly."
"Yes, that's right. See you soon."
After hanging up, everyone else looked at Su Yuanshan curiously.
"Heh, just a little lesson for a brat yesterday," Su Yuanshan said, shaking his head with a smile. At that moment, his own phone began to ring.
Meanwhile, Sun Xihui, Zhou Xiaohui, and Yang Yingying had only managed to stroll down half a street before being forced to turn back.
No matter how big Yang Yingying's sunglasses were, or how low she pulled her baseball cap, it was impossible to escape attention. Three beautiful women followed by several assistants and drivers — there was no way to stay low-key.
Even if Yang Yingying had completely covered her face, people would have guessed she was someone famous.
"Being a celebrity is great and all, but this part really sucks," Sun Xihui said from the middle of the backseat, with the two girls on either side. She turned her head to glance at Yang Yingying's beautiful profile and sighed. "I used to think only HK was this crazy, but apparently the mainland's not much better."
"It's mainly because the SEZ is so close to Hong Kong," Yang Yingying said with a soft smile. "But I heard there are a lot of talent scouts in HK. Sun Jie, you must have bumped into plenty, right?"
"Heh, I'm way too old for that. No talent scout would bother with me," Sun Xihui joked self-deprecatingly.
Zhou Xiaohui quickly flattered her, "Sun Jie is a famous lady boss in HK! Only blind talent scouts would dare bother her — hmm? That car..."
Halfway through her sentence, Zhou Xiaohui stopped and looked curiously at the black Mercedes pulling up at the Mobile Division's gate.
"A Mercedes 600 — expensive," Sun Xihui said casually. "Probably someone coming to discuss business."
"Uh... probably not," Zhou Xiaohui said, recognizing the license plate prefix from Fujian province and immediately connecting it to yesterday's incident.
Following the Mercedes into the industrial park, Zhou Xiaohui kept her eyes fixed on the car.
Soon, both cars parked at the lot.
A young man quickly got out of the passenger seat and opened the door for someone in the back.
Zhou Xiaohui exhaled lightly.
Lai Wenfeng.
Except today, the man who had been so arrogant yesterday was sitting in the passenger seat and even getting out to open doors for others.
Moments later, two sharply dressed middle-aged men emerged from the Mercedes.
At the same time, Sun Xihui, Zhou Xiaohui, and the others got out of their Audi.
Zhou Xiaohui keenly noticed that when Lai Wenfeng caught sight of Yang Yingying, he froze for a moment — then fear immediately flashed in his eyes.
He chickened out, Zhou Xiaohui thought to herself.
