Chapter 265 Mitosis

While listening to Jiang Qingchuan continue hosting the meeting, Su Yuanshan picked up the secretary's meeting notes. He already knew the general content of Jiang Qingchuan's meeting from the day before. Skimming through the notes, he saw that Jiang hadn't deviated from the planned agenda.

"We always emphasize that we must look further ahead. Our feet must be firmly planted in our own field, but our eyes can't remain fixed only there. Since we've seen the advantages of DVDs in data storage, we must move quickly to exploit those advantages."

Jiang Qingchuan spoke for a few more minutes before handing the floor over to Su Yuanshan. However, Su Yuanshan didn't have much to say — he certainly couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the team. VCDs, DVDs... none of them would last twenty years, maybe not even fifteen before USB flash drives flattened them. And eventually, cloud streaming and cloud storage would crush everything to dust. Still, for now, DVDs were a sunrise industry, and Su Yuanshan was happy to ride the wave under controlled conditions.

They had lunch at the factory, and in the afternoon, Su Yuanshan got in touch with Chen Daohua. Together with the newly arrived Wang Chaoxin, the four of them went to the Mobile Division.

As Yuanxin's most important and fastest money-making division, the Mobile Division occupied five entire floors of an office building. Duan Yongping's office was spacious and brightly lit, almost extravagant. It was big enough not only for meetings but even for a party without feeling crowded.

After the secretary served the tea and carefully closed the door, Duan Yongping chuckled and said, "I'm not great at making Kung Fu tea, so just bear with it. This thing takes way too much time."

"You're not from Chaoshan anyway. None of us are," Wang Chaoxin said with a laugh, tipping his head back. "We'd be better off just making a quick pot of Dahongpao instead. But hey, today we're not here for anything too serious, just killing time."

Everyone laughed at his comment. Su Yuanshan, Duan Yongping, Jiang Qingchuan, and Chen Daohua — these were all big shots who normally barely had time to touch the ground, not to mention Wang Chaoxin himself who had flown in specially. Saying they had nothing serious to discuss was obviously a joke.

"But in a way, he's not wrong," Su Yuanshan said, spinning his phone lazily in his hand. "We could be having a heated discussion here, only for the SEZ side to suddenly pull the plug and say sorry. That would be hilarious."

The room burst into laughter again. With Yuanxin's expanding influence and the relentless efforts of Wang Rui, Duan Yongping, and Chen Jing, the SEZ had finally agreed to grant Yuanxin the land it wanted.

The five of them gathered to discuss the founding of Yuanxin Industrial Park. According to Yuanxin's plan, the park would consolidate all related factories into a massive OEM cluster. Consolidation meant dealing with power structures, profit distribution, and establishing new standards and procedures. That's why Su Yuanshan was using this opportunity to lay the groundwork.

Duan Yongping opened a filing cabinet, pulled out several documents, and distributed them. "These are all the companies involved in the industrial area. President Wang started reaching out to them a year ago, and I've been following up for the past six months. Except for a few tiny workshops that are useless to us, the rest are fine, and most are willing to cooperate. We just might have to pay a bit extra."

Redrawing the industrial area within an existing zone wasn't just about land; it also involved handling the companies already operating there. Fortunately, Yuanxin was now big enough and had strong enough government backing to push the SEZ to cooperate on the necessary mergers and acquisitions.

As for what would happen to the small factories afterward, Yuanxin offered two options: integrate into Yuanxin, with founders holding shares proportionate to their departments, or sell their factories and walk away with cash.

And if someone didn't want to sell, or had a messy shareholding structure, there was a third option — Yuanxin would assist with factory relocation.

In short, there were always more solutions than problems.

"But right now, the most important thing is how we arrange things among ourselves," Duan Yongping said while pouring tea for everyone. Although the meeting was in his office, the real decision-maker was Su Yuanshan, and Duan was content to simply play host.

In matters involving multiple departments and two different joint ventures, Duan Yongping didn't feel he had a say. Even Chen Jing had to step back because of Meijie's involvement.

"How to arrange it? Xiaoshan decides," Wang Chaoxin said with a smile, lifting his teacup nonchalantly, at least appearing not to mind.

Since Wang Chaoxin didn't object, even if Chen Daohua had any concerns, he had no choice but to smile and nod. "Anyway, our factories, including the CD-ROM joint venture with Japan, already use unified materials procurement. Integrating everything should be straightforward."

Jiang Qingchuan merely smiled without saying much.

Su Yuanshan laughed, "Don't dump everything on me. If it's really up to me, I'll just send someone down tomorrow to take over."

"That's fine. I have no objections," Wang Chaoxin said again with a laugh.

Chen Daohua, more restrained, had discussed with his sister and knew that Su Yuanshan mainly wanted to discuss things this trip. He stopped joking and said thoughtfully, "Looking purely at production processes and organizational structure — setting aside profit-sharing for now — it's necessary to establish a unified standard."

Su Yuanshan sighed, "Big Brother Chen, you're so considerate. You guys... don't just joke around. Let's each summarize our points. Today, let's at least finalize the organizational structure, and then we can figure out how to streamline the production process."

Truthfully, Su Yuanshan found it a bit of a headache.

Aside from himself, the four people here collectively oversaw far more than four factories.

For instance, under Wang Chaoxin, there was the mobile phone factory, the pager factory, the cordless phone factory, plus a charger assembly plant — he had taken "Yuanxin eats the meat, I drink the soup" to an art form.

And he drank a lot of soup.

As for workshops and production lines, there were even more.

Even though the production standards were similar across factories, there were still many detailed differences when it came down to actual operations.

Each factory also had its own rules and completely different organizational structures.

"Speaking of organizational structure, let me ask one thing," Wang Chaoxin said with a smile, turning to Su Yuanshan. "In the future, will the Industrial Park also be spun off like the EDA division?"

"Not necessarily," Su Yuanshan shook his head. "EDA had to be spun off, but the Industrial Park doesn't necessarily have to. Still, we must prepare for the possibility — in fact, every Yuanxin department must be ready to operate independently if needed."

Jiang Qingchuan added with a chuckle, "Like a multi-stage rocket."

"Not quite," Su Yuanshan glanced at his senior brother and smiled. "It's more like mitosis."
