Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The First Flame.

‎The chapel exploded into chaos.

‎Black fire burst from the walls as Captain Taren's sword crashed against Haken's wolf blade.

‎Steel screamed.

‎The force sent both men sliding across the cracked stone floor.

‎"You were my captain," Haken growled.

‎Taren's face remained cold.

‎"And you were never meant to survive."

‎Behind them...

‎Cenric walked calmly toward the ancient pedestal.

‎He ignored the battle entirely.

‎His eyes never left the floating page of the Book of First Names.

‎"So many lives..."

‎"So many destinies..."

‎"...written by frightened kings."

‎He smiled.

‎"Tonight..."

‎"I write my own."

‎Vivi lifted both hands.

‎Golden fire spiraled around her arms.

‎The Crown of Bone and Fire answered her call.

‎The black flames filling the chapel began retreating.

‎Light pushed against darkness.

‎Not winning...

‎Just refusing to surrender.

‎Taren struck again.

‎Haken blocked the blow.

‎Their swords locked together.

‎"You still don't understand," Taren whispered.

‎"I watched the kingdom rot for years."

‎"The nobles lied."

‎"The Queen bargained with monsters."

‎"The innocent paid the price."

‎Haken met his eyes.

‎"You're right."

‎Taren hesitated.

‎"But burning the world won't heal it."

‎With a roar, Haken threw him backward.

‎Cenric reached the pedestal.

‎His fingers touched the ancient page.

‎The chapel trembled.

‎The page dissolved into fire.

‎Not ordinary fire...

‎White fire.

‎It rose like a living spirit.

‎The voice that followed seemed older than time itself.

‎"Who dares awaken the First Flame?"

‎Everyone froze.

‎Even Cenric.

‎The white fire gathered into the shape of a woman.

‎She wore no crown.

‎No armor.

‎Only robes woven from starlight and flame.

‎Her eyes rested on Vivi.

‎Then Haken.

‎Finally...

‎Viper's lingering darkness within the chapel.

‎She sighed.

‎"So..."

‎"The children have inherited our war."

‎Vivi stepped forward.

‎"Who are you?"

‎The woman smiled sadly.

‎"I have been called many names."

‎"The Flamekeeper."

‎"The First Queen."

‎"The Last Light."

‎"But before all of them..."

‎"I was simply..."

‎She touched her own heart.

‎"...Aurelia."

‎The name echoed through the chapel.

‎The spirits knelt.

‎Even the fire bowed.

‎Cenric laughed.

‎"So the legend lives."

‎Aurelia looked at him.

‎"No."

‎"The legend ended."

‎"You merely refused to accept it."

‎She turned back to Vivi.

‎"The First Flame was never created to destroy darkness."

‎"It was created..."

‎"...to give people the choice to reject it."

‎Vivi frowned.

‎"Then why am I so powerful?"

‎"Because every generation believed power would save them."

‎Aurelia stepped closer.

‎"But they forgot..."

‎She placed two fingers gently against Vivi's forehead.

‎"The greatest flame is not the one that burns."

‎A warm light spread through Vivi.

‎"It's the one that gives others hope."

‎The Crown on Vivi's head softened.

‎For the first time...

‎It felt light.

‎Suddenly—

‎A scream tore through the chapel.

‎Cenric staggered backward.

‎Darkness erupted from beneath his feet.

‎The floor shattered.

‎An enormous black hand reached out from the abyss.

‎Not Viper.

‎Not the old gods.

‎Something even older.

‎A voice shook the world.

‎"The prison is broken."

‎"Return... my Flame."

‎The white fire around Aurelia flickered.

‎Her peaceful expression vanished.

‎"No..."

‎She looked at Vivi with urgency.

‎"It's awake."

‎Haken stepped beside Vivi, gripping his blade.

‎"What is?"

‎Aurelia's answer was barely more than a whisper.

‎"The one even Viper feared."

‎The black hand burst fully through the floor.

‎The chapel collapsed.
