Chapter 26 - The Princess

A worn down house stands before me and I can only imagine what awaits me inside of it, the princess needs someone to save her though.

Kick. He kicks the door open with ease and enters the house. The inside was clearly abandoned, no one appeared to be living here anymore.

The house was abandoned by anyone who previously lived there but something was off about the whole place. Things were thrown around and one singular bookshelf was left in the corner of the room.

A secret entrance awaits me after all? Adding more to my list of stupid things I've found in this world so far. A secret entrance to some sort of tunnel right? He starts grabbing everything on the bookshelf to see if it activates anything.

Eventually he hears something click before the bookshelf begins to move out of the way.

I knew this was definitely the way to go, time to find the princess. He begins to walk through the long corridor, taking in everything he sees as he looks around.

The walls were old and the tunnel doesn't seem like it was used in quite some time. It was definitely strange for them to use it now of all times.

Killing noble families, trying to resurrect the goddess of death, and now abducting a princess of a kingdom like Avania— There's quite a lot of questions to be answered here.

This is just going to cause a lot of issues for them so why would they want to put themselves in the spotlight?

Footsteps can be heard in the distance, as well as some muffled conversations between people.

It sounds like the enemy is ahead, best to brace myself for any combat ahead. I've killed twice now and I still don't know how much I can handle.

I have only fought one on one so far as well— What exactly will happen if I have to deal with multiple enemies at the same time?

"We'll handle it together." A girls voice quietly says.

I could see a bright light at the end of this corridor, it must be where the enemies are waiting. I'm not sure I understand what they are waiting for but maybe someone else was supposed to be meeting them here.

Upon reaching the end of the hallway he's greeted by three guys wearing heavy iron armor with the grim reaper insignia on their pauldrons. Their faces all appeared to be covered as well, but they weren't the entire focus here.

It was the princess Ayako who was the objective here, he quickly scanned the room and took notice of a girl with curly short pink hair, wearing royal garb, she was chained up in one of the chairs in the far corner of the room.

Ayako, the sister of Shimada who was abducted by these assholes. I'll do my best to take care of these guys so that she can make it back safely.

Tap. Tap. One of the guys taps the others shoulder and points at Artemis. "Oh so we have a guest, I didn't think we'd have any today." He speaks with a bit of excitement in his voice.

They all have heavy iron armor compared to me with my light armor, it's barely anything to protect me in all honesty. I haven't had any real protection since we left so I should probably invest in it after this is over.

"Shall we deal with him?" Another man asks as he steps forward.

Artemis's hand was already wrapped around the handle of his sword before he quickly drew his sword. "Come on." Artemis says with a serious tone in his voice.

The one in the middle seems to be a captain of sorts while the other two are just normal soldiers. At least if we're going by those kinds of standards for ranks, then I'd assume that much.

They didn't waste time and began to rush towards Artemis with no hesitation— Their blades already drawn and coming down towards him.

One from the left, the right, and finally the main one coming down towards him. "Trust me. I promised to help you." Her voice echoes around him.

I heard this voice back on the ship as well, this has to be the girl from the abyss. I've got no way to prove it just yet but I know it's got to be the case.

I'm not stupid when it comes to things like this— I'll handle this in a smart manner that won't get me killed. She is the source of this power of mine so I'll use it to my advantage as much as possible.

Hands begin to form from within the shadows of the men charging and grab their arms and legs within an instant. "What the hell is going on?!?!" They all question while trying their hardest to move.

"Obviously you can't move, but maybe you didn't realize that." Artemis says while stepping towards them.

I can kill them here, right? I'm capable of doing this now... Even if it's something that will haunt me as I continue to live my life here in this world.

Slash! Slice! Slash! He swings his blade with ease as he cuts through each one of them within a few seconds. Blooding dripping onto the floor before the bodies fall onto the ground next.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Each body fell onto the floor as he wiped his blade off. "I appreciate your help, we should talk soon." Artemis says with hope that the girl will hear him.

Nothing but silence is within the room but now was the chance to save the girl. He sheathes his sword before walking over to the girl, quickly releasing her from her binds.

"Hey are you okay?" Artemis asks while shaking her to wake her up.

She opens her eyes, bright green eyes peered at him as she sat there silently for a few seconds. Ayako took notice of the dead men on the floor before speaking.

"Who are you...?" Ayako asks with a bit of concern in her voice.
