Uchiha Shisui quickly rose to prominence after the end of the Third Great Ninja War, renowned in the ninja world as "Shunshin Shisui" (Shisui the Swift Body).
In the original story, Shisui never truly demonstrated his full power; his strength was mostly portrayed through the words of others.
For example, a shinobi from Kirigakure named Ao once said: "Uchiha Shisui's doujutsu (eye technique) allows him to enter the opponent's mind to manipulate them, making them experience illusions as if real, while the victim remains completely unaware—this is the highest form of genjutsu!"
Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, also said that Uchiha Shisui was the strongest genjutsu user within the Uchiha clan.
There are many similar evaluations.
In Uchiha Yuan's impression, Shisui became a genin in Konoha year 46. In year 47, he killed his close friend and awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan. In year 48, Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Shisui met, and that same year the Nine-Tails Incident broke out. (PS: These data are from the Itachi True Story and Itachi's novel.) Because the Nine-Tails was controlled by the Sharingan, and the Uchiha clan was blocked by Danzo from intervening, the Uchiha clan's position in Konoha became extremely awkward.
Against this backdrop, Uchiha Shisui joined the ANBU.
The personalities of the Uchiha clan members vary widely: Uchiha Madara is flamboyant; Uchiha Obito was sunny in early years and ruthless later; Uchiha Itachi is gloomy; Uchiha Sasuke is hot-tempered.
But Uchiha Shisui was different from these clan members. Like Obito before Rin's death, he was cheerful and often wore a smile on his face.
If he were not born into the Uchiha clan, his personality and strength might have won him much love, similar to the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze.
But unfortunately, Shisui carries the Uchiha name.
In Uchiha Yuan's view, Uchiha Shisui was different from Uchiha Itachi.
Itachi was a pure executioner brainwashed by the Will of Fire; calling him insane wouldn't be an exaggeration—who else would raise a blade against their own clan and completely annihilate it?
Shisui was different. He did not blindly side with either the village or the clan. His greatest wish was to maintain harmony between the village and the clan, not to destroy the clan for the sake of the village.
Put simply, Shisui was not completely on Konoha's side; he only wanted to avoid bloodshed as much as possible.
This can be seen from the moment Danzo attacked him, Shisui countered without hesitation, and his tough attitude toward Danzo.
Shisui's ideology leaned towards the clan and the village being one entity, sharing prosperity and adversity together.
He did not want hostility between the two sides, so he sought to mediate and reconcile as much as possible.
But fundamentally, Shisui's thinking was not wrong. However, he overlooked one key point: the village leadership no longer wished for the Uchiha clan to exist. Under their various measures, the conflict between the village and the Uchiha clan had become irreconcilable.
Even if Shisui truly used Kotoamatsukami to stop his clan members from rebelling, the Uchiha clan would still be wiped out.
And Shisui's fate was a dead end.
Because once Shisui revealed Kotoamatsukami's power, his death was already destined.
When facing someone who might control your mind at any time, anyone would feel fear, especially Konoha's ruling powers like the Third Hokage.
They would surely worry: what if one day Shisui directs his power against the village's leadership?
What if Shisui's thoughts change and he controls the entire village, turning it into his puppet?
The ninja village system means whoever controls the leadership controls the entire village. Obito took control of the entire Hidden Mist Village by controlling the Fourth Mizukage.
It was one thing that Konoha's leadership didn't trust Shisui,
but the key point was that some among the leadership wanted to obtain his power.
In the original story, Danzo once said to Shisui: "You have the strongest genjutsu, yet you want to use such precious power to stop a mere coup?"
So Shisui's ideas and actions could never save the Uchiha clan.
As a time traveler, knowing that Shisui's ideology and path were problematic, is it right to let him grow unchecked?
Of course not!
Uchiha Yuan looked at the young boy before him and made a firm decision: he must bring Shisui back onto the right path.
But the premise to lead Shisui back to the right path was to first build a good relationship with him.
Thinking of this, Uchiha Yuan asked with a kind smile, "Shisui, how old are you this year?"
"I am six years old, a second-grade student at the Ninja Academy."
"Six years old? So Shisui is four years younger than me and three years younger than Obito and Kakashi?"
Uchiha Yuan thought to himself.
"Have you already learned how to mold chakra?" Uchiha Yuan continued.
"Of course! I was the first in my class to mold chakra back in first grade!" Shisui answered proudly.

You are a second-grade Ninja Academy student, so your chakra control isn't sufficient yet. If you want to learn Shunshinjutsu, you must first improve your chakra control."
"How do I improve chakra control?" Shisui asked.
"Well! First, start with tree climbing and water walking. These two exercises are..."
Uchiha Yuan explained the training directions for tree climbing and water walking to Shisui.
However, he did not demonstrate it for Shisui.
Since Uchiha Yuan had just recently mastered these techniques himself and was not very skilled, he worried that if he made a mistake during demonstration, it would be embarrassing.

Uchiha Tetsuka is the same age as Obito, both are nine years old, but he didn't attend Ninja Academy the same year as Uchiha Yuan or Uchiha Obito; instead, he went the following year.
