Rory shifted on the spot, checking his watch underneath the sleeve of his smart tuxedo jacket. If he couldn't see the Doctor pacing around in a circle next to him, he would have said he was even more nervous than the Time Lord. Jack Harkness stood next to him, looking almost impatient wearing a matching suit. The Doctor took his top hat off, putting it down on the small table in front of them before changing his mind and putting it on again. He reached up to take it off yet another time when Jack sighed in exasperation.

"Doc, just leave it alone." Jack snapped, "Either wear it or don't but stop messing with it."

"What if she doesn't like it and I'm wearing it? Or, what if she does like it but I'm not? Then what?"

"Then she still won't care what you're wearing." He replied, "She'll just be happy you've not married yet another person who isn't her."

"Again, I didn't mean to marry the Princess of the Twilight Forests, I thought I was just participating in her coronation." The Doctor defended. They were never going to let that go, were they? One mistake, that's all it was. Danni forgave him, why couldn't they?

"The fact that you were in a church didn't alert you to anything out of the ordinary?" Jack scoffed and Rory rolled his eyes, checking his watch again. They were late, by about 10 minutes. That will be why the Doctor was acting so skittish, it can't have been nerves at the actual ceremony because they were already married. He can be fourteen years off course, but heaven forbid someone made him wait 10 minutes!

Rory looked over at the doorway to see his own wife appear, trying to get his attention. She smiled brightly at him and held up both thumbs; they were ready. Rory turned to Jack, nodding and in turn the man turned to the stereo.

"Ready, Doc?" He called before pressing play. The Doctor's breath caught in his throat at the sound of the first gentle tinkles of the piano that came across the sound system.

We'll do it all, everything, on our own

He wasn't this nervous when they'd first gotten married, he couldn't understand it. His palms were sweating, he reached up but then remembered he'd taken the hat off. Should he put it back on again? He shook his head once, no, he'd better leave it off. He hopped from one foot to the other as Amy and River appeared in the doorway in matching cream dresses, knee-length and skinny-fit, the girls walked side by side down the aisle in front of them. Danni had them walk together because she didn't have enough menfolk in her life to have them be ushers, so they'd both been paired together to give the mother and daughter something else to bond over. Next came Martha and Mickey, Martha in the same cream dress and Mickey in a simple black suit.

We don't need, anything, or anyone.

And then there she was. His Danni-Girl stepped into the room wearing a short blue dress made of satin, a black underskirt making it puff around her legs. She'd decided to go for TARDIS blue because the box meant so much to the pair of them, and she looked absolutely stunning. She had bare legs and small high-heels she had managed to master and she had a white veil over her face, sweeping to one side and only revealing a part of her cheek and the side of her mouth, which was pulled into a huge smile. She seemed to shimmer in the light beaming in through the windows.

If I lay here. If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Rory protested lightly as he turned and strode straight towards her, the thoughts of the ceremony abandoned at the sight of her walking towards him. They met in the middle and she turned slightly pink under his intense gaze, sweeping over her entire form. His Danni-Girl, his angel, his saving grace, the world faded to black as he reached forward and lifted her veil off her face, pushing it over the headband holding it into place.

I don't quite know, How to say, How I feel.

She was wearing a thin layer of make-up, subtle but enough to enhance her grey-blue eyes and to make her lips look even more tempting. She was blushing, smiling shyly as he drank her in, cupping her face. She should never be covered up.

Those three words, Are said too much, They're not enough

Eventually he tore his attention off her long enough to let go of her face to hold out his hand to her. She took it instantly, she always did. Her hand felt perfectly into his, the Time Lord's strong grasp grounding her when nothing else could. He walked her down to the front of the room where the minister was waiting for them. The Doctor couldn't stop looking at her, ignoring everyone around him. He needed her to know how much she meant to him, this little human who had fallen into his life and stolen his heart as well as his breath.

If I lay here. If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told. Before we get too old, show me a garden that's bursting into life.

He led her onto the dance floor, the small gathering around them watching with happy smiles and tears as he took one of her hands in his, wrapping the other around her waist and pulling her against him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Wilfred Mott, there on behalf of the Donna who couldn't be, looking so proud of them. They danced slowly to the song, everyone clapping, most likely at his sudden ability to dance as they swayed.

"Let's waste time," Danni whispered, trying to catch his attention although it had only been on her, "Chasing cars, around our heads." He smiled, leaning down to her ear.

"I need your grace, to remind me, to find my own." He replied. She pulled back to gaze up into his eyes.

If I lay here. If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told. Before we get too old, show me a garden that's bursting into life.

"All that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see." He continued as her eyes filled with the happy tears that were just so human. With one arm still wrapped around her waist, his hand cupped her cheek, brushing the water trail away as she clung to his bicep.

"I don't know where. Confused about how as well." She sang, "Just know that these things will never change for us at all."

Jack eventually had his father-daughter dance, a trail of praising, loving words falling out of his mouth as he let her know exactly how he felt about her. River then shoved him out the way and it was her turn. The Doctor didn't let it go on for long though, shoving his way in between the two women and taking his wife back. Danni scolded him, River laughed and the Doctor coaxed her to dance with him again.

They danced all night, slow ones and fast ones and cheesy ones that accompanied wedding receptions like theirs. She had surprised and delighted him in equal measure when she chucked her hands in the air, shaking back and forth in his 'drunken giraffe' dance he'd done at the Pond wedding. He'd laughed joyously, joining her to the dismay of everyone around him. They should have guessed his gracefulness wouldn't last too long.

He turned to beam at her, she beamed right back before her eyes widened in horror, her arms still in the air as she disappeared in a flash of light, landing in the TARDIS from long ago. She lowered her arms, her happy tears replaced by ones of despair as she stood alone in Nine's TARDIS in her blue wedding dress, her husband hundreds of years away. Rose Tyler entered the room to find her friend stood there, shaking in her sobbing and she rushed over, hugging her close as Jack joined them.

"If I lay here," Danni whispered, heartbroken, "If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?"
