Chapter 4 - Into the Heart of the Resistance

Bob hurried through the maze of tunnels, the faint signal growing stronger with every step. The undercity was a tangled mess of rusty pipes and broken machines, shadows lurking in every corner. Most humans avoided this place, but Bob had no choice—he was driven by something bigger than just survival.

Ahead, a soft light glowed from under a heavy metal door. Bob's antennae twitched as he moved closer. This wasn't just a hiding spot—it was the last refuge of the human resistance.

Squeezing through a crack in the door, Bob entered a small room bathed in a dim blue light. Around a battered table sat a group of people, their faces tired and streaked with dirt, but their eyes sharp and alert. The air buzzed with quiet urgency.

At the center stood Dr. Mara Kline—a tall woman with streaks of gray in her dark hair and eyes that seemed to see right through everything. She looked up when she noticed Bob, surprise flashing across her face before it softened into a small, wry smile.

"Well, I'll be damned," she said softly. "Looks like our little friend made it."

Bob twitched his antennae and moved toward the console, as if he knew he was more than just a survivor now—he was a symbol of hope. The resistance fighters exchanged glances, wondering if this tiny cockroach could really be their key to winning the war.

Dr. Kline's eyes lit up with new fire. "If that signal you've brought is real, Bob, then maybe the fight isn't over yet."

For the first time in a long while, the room felt alive with hope—and the smallest creature there was leading the charge.
