Chapter 530 - Chapter 530: The Name Spider-Man Is Too Ugly

Peter and Gwen arrived at what used to be Hell's Kitchen. Here, all traces of former crimes had vanished without a sign, leaving behind only a small town entirely designed in 19th-century Western style.

An advertisement for an underground boxing match hung nearby. If Peter were short on money, he would certainly be willing to give it a try. However, he wasn't lacking funds at the moment, so he decided against it.

Besides, he estimated that with his thin arms and legs, he surely wouldn't be a match for the others. He had heard of a lawyer with very good eyes who was a formidable boxer.

Hmm? Who had he heard that from again?

Meanwhile, Gwen actually tried her hand at horseback riding.

"These guys are much taller than I imagined. I thought I could just hop on with one stride, but their backs are higher than I am."

With Peter's assistance, Gwen finally mounted the horse. Peter asked somewhat uncertainty, "Are you sure you don't want to wear protective gear? It's very dangerous."

"This is the West. Have you ever seen a cowboy wear protective gear? Besides, I'm not going to be racing; I'm just following the guide's instructions and doing a couple of laps."

"Gwen..."

Hearing Peter's sigh, Gwen helplessly dismounted. "Alright, I'll put on the gear. But let's be clear, this is only so you won't worry, okay?"

"Safety first. Sorry."

"No, it's fine."

Once she was fully suited up in protective gear and wearing a helmet, Peter assisted Gwen back onto the horse and began walking behind her.

However, for some reason, the horse seemed quite disobedient. Midway through the ride, amidst the guide's exclamation, it kicked its hind legs back violently. But Peter seemed to realize it in advance, dodging nimbly and immediately stepping forward to catch Gwen as she fell from the horse.

Caught in his arms, a shaken Gwen looked up at the Peter who had saved her and smiled. "I knew you would catch me, didn't I?"

"That kid hasn't realized he isn't a normal person, has he?"

Not far away, Logan watched the two of them kissing and sighed helplessly. Peter Parker's movements just now were by no means something a normal person could perform, yet no one around them seemed to notice.

Was this also Kang's doing?

Beside him, Cindy, wearing sunglasses as she watched the scene, thought for a moment and shook her head.

Just a few hours ago, Cindy Moon was still a confused S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. In terms of seniority, she was a spider-themed character far earlier than Spider-Woman or Agent Venom, and she had defeated almost all the spider-themed villains herself.

Yet, she always felt something was wrong—as if she was missing a sensation that had always been there.

It wasn't until Logan arrived and told her exactly what was missing. When Logan asked if she knew a young man who had been bitten at the same time as her named Peter Parker, and mentioned that he could sense him, Cindy remembered.

She remembered the last thing Peter had said before setting off to confront Kang: remember to find him.

"Peter's Spider-Sense had evolved back then, developing a sort of precognitive ability. Perhaps he foresaw this scene and told me everything."

Cindy looked at Peter and Gwen holding hands and enjoying themselves like a couple with a mix of jealousy and helplessness. But perhaps that was simply the reality; without the connection of being Spider-Man, they might never have actually encountered one another.

"So, perhaps this wasn't Kang's doing. It was Peter's."

"You mean the kid made the whole world forget him first so he could prevent Kang from tampering with him? Hmm... that is possible, but what was the goal?"

Or rather, why was Peter Parker so certain that Kang the Conqueror would definitely target him, necessitating a preemptive strike to make the world forget Spider-Man?

Perhaps only he knew the answer.

Logan pondered this while looking at Cindy, eventually speaking up: "Aren't you going to talk to him? After all, he gave you instructions. Maybe you have a way to wake him up."

Cindy hesitated, then shook her head.

"I don't know. Maybe this is for the best? This world seems pretty good, doesn't it?"

Captain America spent his life with his true love, Bruce Banner never became the Hulk, Daredevil wasn't disabled, and the Punisher's family were all alive and well.

Then there was Peter Parker. He was just an ordinary student who never had to worry about endless battles. He could continue his life quite well, even if that life didn't include her...

"But he is still himself, right?"

Logan interrupted Cindy's self-persuasion and asked a counter-question: "Do you think he would hide if he encountered something truly terrible?"

Cindy froze for a moment, then shook her head. Logan continued, "And you don't intend to see him face all of this without any abilities, do you?"

Setting aside other places, the Europe controlled by Hydra was simply a miserable sight. And the India managed by Sinister... well, that might actually be better than before.

But all in all, Kang had not created a perfect world for everyone. This world still harbored too much injustice and evil.

And Peter Parker was not the type to refuse to throw himself into the fray to prevent a tragedy.

"Talk to him."

Seeing this, and noticing that Gwen seemed to have left to be by herself for a moment, Logan looked at Cindy.

Perhaps now was the time to wake up Spider-Man.

The two of them walked up to Peter. Logan first showed Peter his current identification.

Seeing Logan's work ID, Peter nodded quickly and said somewhat helplessly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Jameson. Whatever your request is, please consult me during working hours. I'm off the clock right now."

"What I want to talk about isn't anything else. It's about you, Peter Parker."

Logan looked at Peter and asked, "Last year, were you ever bitten by a mutated spider?"

"Maybe I was, why?"

"You gained spider-powers from that spider and used them to fight for justice. You became Spider-Man. Silk was bitten by the same spider, so she can sense your location."

Cindy took over the conversation, and Peter couldn't help but burst out laughing upon hearing the name.

"A person gets bitten by a spider, gets superpowers, and calls himself Spider-Man? That's hilarious."

Cindy and Logan glanced at each other, unsure of what to say. But after a moment of silence, Cindy chose the method Peter had told her to use to accomplish this.

While Peter Parker wasn't paying attention, she moved in front of him. She replicated exactly what Peter had done to her before his final duel with Kang.
