Chapter 130 - Chapter 130: A Surge of Chi!

Luke Cage was certain there wasn't a single good person in the entire police station. The reason was simple: from the time he was arrested yesterday until almost noon the next day, he hadn't eaten anything, not even a drop of water. He didn't know if it was because he was Black, or if they just intended to starve him.

This state was incredibly agonizing. Cage didn't know how much longer he could endure. He sat bored on the bed, recalling everything from his transformation from Carl Lucas into Luke Cage.

He remembered everything and found that his happiest moments were when he was helping others, and his most relieved moments were when he stepped forward to draw Hydra's attention. Perhaps it wasn't because he truly wanted to help others, but because the former was unrelated to his own suffering, allowing him to be single-minded, while the latter was the moment he could save and change his own fate—he had finally made up his mind.

And another moment that would decide his fate had arrived.

As the wall of the detention room groaned, the entire concrete wall was violently ripped away. A man who appeared even larger than Luke Cage looked at him: "Luke Cage? The boss sent me to rescue you."

"Who's your damn boss?"

Seeing Cage's demeanor, the mercenary was unsurprised by his attitude. He raised his hand, about to release nerve gas. Luke held his breath, preparing to punch him.

It was at this moment that things changed.

"Heya!" Like a shout from an old Hong Kong martial arts film, a person in a green outfit descended from the sky. Wielding his right fist, which glowed with golden energy, he slammed it fiercely onto the hulking man's head, then shouted: "I am the guardian of New York! The Immortal Iron Fist from the East! I have been waiting for you, jailbreaker!"

A question mark appeared over Luke Cage's bald head.

No, who was this guy? Dressed in a high-collared green outfit that looked like a cloak, with no zippers or buttons, revealing his bare chest, showcasing his eight-pack abs and a dragon tattoo. His white skin had no connection to the East. His lower half was white linen pants paired with cloth shoes. The most ridiculous part was his mask, which looked like a yellow scarf wrapped around the upper half of his face, with two eye-holes poked out.

Where did Matt Murdock find such an... Immortal Iron Fist?

The arriving Super Soldier also hadn't expected this. In Hydra's contingency plans, they were supposed to face Daredevil, and Daredevil was, after all, just a normal human, so one Super Soldier could handle him.

But what in the world was this... Immortal Iron Fist?

But Iron Fist didn't give the opponent time to hesitate. He simply settled his stance, concentrating "chi" in his fists. Golden energy surged forth, as if a golden Eastern dragon coiled around him. He let out a loud roar.

"A Surge of Chi!"

Then, in just a few seconds, dozens of punches, imbued with mighty golden energy, struck the giant. Each punch sounded like a drumbeat, the impact like muffled thunder, until the final blow, when Iron Fist slowed his punch, then delivered a heavy strike.

The silent thunder suddenly exploded, the golden energy completely detonated, flashing with dazzling light between Iron Fist's fists. The giant flew backward for dozens of meters, slamming into the wall of another building.

Luke Cage glanced at Iron Fist's fist.

"You... dressed like that, seriously?"

"...Matt's uniform isn't much better."

Iron Fist could only manage that one sentence after a long pause. He wasn't good with words, but it didn't matter. As long as he shouted "A Surge of Chi!", that was enough to handle everything.

Ophelia, watching all of this live from the underground base, sighed. Fortunately, they had already prepared a contingency plan in case Daredevil tried to break out the prisoner and their side failed. With her command, all of Viper Security Company's personnel moved out. They would brand everyone assisting Luke Cage as accomplices, and then eliminate them all.

A large group of people in riot gear stormed the jailbreak scene. Both Luke Cage and Iron Fist got into fighting stances. As Viper Security Company's personnel arranged their formation, a discordant sound came from their rear. A burly man in a black leather jacket, carrying two automatic rifles, began to spray bullets at them. Thanks to the high-grade armor worn by these people, the fatality rate wasn't high. When the bullets ran out, he tossed the rifles aside and pulled out his pistol.

As soon as the rifle fire ceased, Daredevil leaped down from the rooftop, wielding his billy club and quickly knocking down a Viper Security Company guard. The Punisher and Daredevil joined the battle, blocking the rear road, meaning that the four of them had now surrounded these people.

This was a trap, Ophelia immediately concluded, but so what? Without the Avengers, what could four street-level heroes possibly do?

But, this wasn't all; in fact, there weren't four people, but five.

Viper Security Company's helicopter had just lifted off when it was yanked down. Jessica Jones flew in mid-air, beat the helicopter pilot, choked him unconscious, then landed the helicopter and walked over to Daredevil.

"She can fly?"

Iron Fist said, utterly shocked: "I thought... I thought none of us could fly?"

"I'm more curious why she can pilot a helicopter."

Luke Cage said, charging into the crowd. The five street heroes thus plunged into a chaotic battle with Viper Security Company. Amidst the chaos, Ophelia was frowning, feeling that this was a trap. But could Daredevil and his allies really wipe out Viper Security Company on their own? Even if they dealt with Viper Security Company, how would they deal with the US military further back?

Unless...

The Hydra base alarm suddenly blared. Ophelia looked up at one of the screens. Spider-Man and an unknown woman in black battle armor had actually infiltrated the base without being noticed. It was at this moment that Ophelia finally realized.

"What is Pierce doing?! What is Zemo doing?! And Strucker! Spider-Man just popped up, and not a single person noticed this! Are the rest of Hydra utterly incompetent?!"

The exasperated Viper took a deep breath and grabbed her communicator, issuing orders: "Send word, deploy the Super Soldiers. Eliminate Spider-Man."
