Chapter 50 - The End Of Regulus Corneas

Emilia looked around as she thought about what Kiyotaka had said to her.

"'Kiyotaka walked over to Emilia.

Kiyotaka: [Lia.]

Emilia: [Kiyo! What are you thinking?]

Kiyotaka: [It'll be fine. I'm your knight after all. And I promised to myself to keep you safe.]

Emilia sighed.

Emilia: [If you say so.]

Kiyotaka: [The wives. Regulus's invincibility only works if his heart stops beating. One of his wives has a second heartbeat. That's his heart he's forcing on them.]

Emilia looked shocked and disgusted.

Emilia: [That's awful!]

Kiyotaka: [That's what's giving Regulus his invincibility. I'll fight him in the Main Plaza. You try to remove his invincibility somehow.]

Emilia quickly covered up for the conversation.

Emilia: [I love you too.]'"

Emilia turned to 184, who was kneeling on the ground. She walked over to her, getting on one knee.

Emilia: [Hey, are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?]

184: [I... we will stay here.]

Emilia: [No. I need to get you all away from here. If I can do that, then we might be able to beat Regulus.]

184: [Lord Husband cannot be defeated... and he has not given us permission to leave. Acting without his permission will incur his wrath. And who could stand against Lord Husband? Against Regulus Corneas?]

Emilia slapped her cheeks as she began to think.

Emilia: [I've got it.]

184: [What are you talking about?]

Emilia: [Please tell me your name.]

184 looked surprised.

184: [Why?]

Emilia: [I didn't know anything about you. But I want to know about you.]

184: [I have nothing more to say. You are no longer one of Lord Husband's brides. You're different from us now.]

Emilia: [You know I'm a half-elf. It's true. All of you and I are different. Our circumstances, our backgrounds, even the very core of who we are. But that's fine and dandy. Even if we're different, we still have things we can all relate to.]

184: [What are you trying to say?]

Emillia: [You and I are different, but that's okay!]

184 looked shocked.

Emilia: [So, please, tell me your name. My name is Emilia, just Emilia. I'm a half-elf, different from you in many ways. But I'm sure we have plenty in common, too. I want to help you.]

184 gritted her teeth in rage.

184: [Don't toy with me! Why must you try to make us human after everything that's happened?! That man was content as long as we were his obedient dolls. That's how we survived! Because we believed that it was our one meagre act of resistance. But then you... What do you know about us?!]

Emilia: [Why? Because no matter what happens, you should always remain human. Someone I know tried to be something other than human. He has so much self-control. It's reaaally amazing, but even he couldn't keep going like that without wanting to be human again. Because deep down he's a good person who was hurt by reaaally bad people. That's why to him it's important. If he couldn't keep going like that, none of you will be able to either. None of you have to. You're all reaaally kind people and I can't stand by and let this continue.]

All of them looked surprised as they looked desperately at her, trying to resist her words.

184: [What do you know...]

Emilia: [Not much at all. I'm not all that smart, but... I'll never leave someone behind when they so desperately need my help. Every part of you is crying out for that help. That's why I'll help you. But to do that, I want you girls to help me too.]

184: [You want us... to help?]

Emilia: [Please. Let me help you. My knight and everyone else.]

She went into a slight bow to them as 184 looked shocked and took a small breath.

184: [Please wait a moment. I have something to ask, a question I wasn't able to ask you all before.]

184 looked around.

184: [Does anyone here like that man?]

The wives began looking at each other.

Wife 1: [...I hate him!]

Wife 2: [I hate him!]

Wife 3: [I hate him, too!]

Wife 4: [I hated him all this time!]

Wife 5: [I've never liked him!]

Wife 6: [I hate him, I truly do!]

Wife 7: [He's messed up!]

Wife 8: [He's insane!]

Wife 9: [Who could ever love someone like him?]

Wife 10: [He only cares about himself!]

Wife 11: [I've rejected him over and over in my head!]

Wife 12: [He should just drop dead!]

Wife 11: [But it didn't matter!]

Wife 13: [I hate him more than yesterday!]

Wife 14: [I really hate him!]

Wife 13: [And I'll hate him even more tomorrow!]

Wife 15: [I hate the way he talks!]

Wife 16: [He's just a child in an adult's body!]

Wife 17: [I'd rather be with an earth dragon!] AN: 💀💀💀

Wife 18: [He's not even worth comparing to anything!]

Wife 19: [He just doesn't stop talking!]

Wife 20: [I've always wanted to throw up!]

Wife 21: [When he touches me, I feel like I'm going to rot away!]

Wife 22: [I want him to die every time he talks!]

Wife 23: [How could I ever love someone who dragged me here against my will?]

Wife 24: [I wish his insides would rot!]

Wife 25: [I just want to go home.]

Wife 26: [I don't need help, just kill that bastard!]

Wife 27: [No woman would ever love someone like him. Not any men either.] AN: Again 💀💀💀

Wife 28: [There's no human being who could ever love him.]

( I just really felt like writing this scene for some reason. I wonder why?)

184: Sylphy.]

Emilia: [Eh?]

184: [My name is Sylphy.]

Emilia: [That's a reaaally nice name]

Sylphy: [We were all in agreement, yet no one could say a thing. We absolutely despise that man. Please let us help.]

Emilia smiled.

Emilia: [Thank you.]

Sylphy: [How do we defeat that man?]

Emilia: [I don't know how, but Kiyo figured out his weakness.]

Sylphy: [His weakness?]

The "Wives" gathered.

Emilia: [He said the reason he's invincible is that he attaches his heart to one of you.]

Sylphy: [What must we do?]

Emilia: [I wanted to move you as far away as possible but...]

Sylphy: [But what?]

Emilia: [That plan might not work. I don't even know how far away I'd have to take you, so...]

Emilia hesitated.

Emilia: [I'm going to freeze you here.]

Sylphy: [Freeze us?]

Emilia: [That way your hearts will stop beating, but you won't die, but I'm worried. I....]

Sylphy smiles.

Sylphy: [We trust you.]

All of the "wives seemed to agree, nodding their heads.

Emilia: [I can't think of another way. I'm sorry.]

Sylphy: [Please don't apologise.]

All of the Wives: [Thank you!]

They stood still as Emilia froze them in place.

Kiyotaka rushed around, ducking behind buildings to obscure Regulus's view, who flicked the air at him in an attempt to hit him.

Kiyotaka: (Find an opening and...)

Kiyotaka stepped out as Regulus turned to face him and flicked his finger as a hole appeared in Kiyotaka's stomach, but that Kiyotaka turned to mud.

Regulus: [What? How dare you make a mockery out of me, you...!]

Kiyotaka appeared behind him, slamming his blade onto his back as it shattered, and he jumped away.

Kiyotaka: [I'm getting tired of hearing your voice.]

Regulus: [Isn't that a rude thing to say? How can you be so rude to me? A man who has been ever so kind to the one you love? Such a man? Are you truly such a jealous man?]

Kiyotaka sighed.

Kiyotaka: [Will you shut up?]

Kiyotaka wiped the sweat from his forehead as he glared at Regulus.

Regulus: [Does your rudeness know no bounds?]

Kiyotaka: (Alright, I think I can feel it.)

Kiyotaka rushed forward with his blades as Regulus waved his hand. Kiyotaka dodged as the earth was cut up before he got closer and swung his blade. Regulus stood them as the blade nicked his neck.

Regulus: [What? How can that be!? How can you violate my『Authority Of Greed!?』]

Kiyotaka: (Damn it... I don't have a good enough grasp of it!)

Regulus flicked his finger as a hole, like a bite mark, appeared in part of Kiyotaka's shoulder as he jumped back, gritting his teeth in pain.

Kiyotaka: (The efficiency of this arm has decreased by 50% but... I've found it. Back when I was training, I knew I felt something. Like I was missing it every time I swung the sword. It made it even more difficult because I had no idea what I was swinging at. Just now, I felt myself hitting it. Right here in front of me, I've found a target that allows me to swing with more accuracy. But I can feel it slipping. I must...)

Kiyotaka: [... Kill you quickly.]

Kiyotaka rushed in, his breath leaving his lips like steam, as Regulus put up his arms in horror. Kiyotaka swung his blade, and Regulus, by sheer luck, managed to stop the attack by grabbing Kiyotaka's arms. Kiyotaka pressed the blade on Regulus's neck as blood dripped onto the blade. But it wasn't Regulus's blood. It was the blood from Kiyotaka's shoulder.

Kiyotaka: (Come on... just a little more...)

Regulus: [What kind of monster are you?]

Kiyotaka felt the skin separate when suddenly it stopped.

Kiyotaka: (I lost the feeling! It's slipped through my hands! Why at a time like this!?)

Kiyotaka instantly jumped back, raising his hands at Regulus.

Kiyotaka: [Al Goa!]

Kiyotaka cast fireballs at him as he used the smoke it generated to get clear of him, as Kiyotaka hid behind a crate. He grabbed a shirt from a clothes line next to him and used it as a makeshift tourniquet.

Kiyotaka: (How much longer is it going to take for me to feel that sensation again and be able to kill this guy? Is the handhold I have to grab to reach that level so small that missing it is the only possible outcome? No. I have managed to hang on to it twice, but both times it slipped from my grasp.)

Suddenly, Kiyotaka felt a disturbance in the mana around him as he jumped clear, and the crate with everything behind it was laid to waste.

Regulus: [You bastard! Just what are you?]

Kiyotaka lunged forward, dodging each of Regulus's attacks. It shouldn't have been possible since his attacks were so fast that even Kiyotaka's mana strings struggled to detect them before contact.

Regulus: [How can you dodge all of my attacks like that? How can you not die? This is absurd! This is...! This is a violation of my rights!!!]

Kiyotaka was keeping his eyes on Regulus's hands, and his mana strings were attached to his arms and legs. In each of Kiyotaka's previous attacks, he had attached these mana strings to Regulus's body, allowing Kiyotaka to finally be able to consistently dodge Regulus's attacks.

Kiyotaka: (Come on. Let this work!!!)

Kiyotaka rushed at Regulus with a sword in each hand as he swung his blade, cutting off Regulus's hand, who screamed in agony.

Kiyotaka: (Oh yeah, I feel it. More clearly now. It feels great. Almost euphoric.)

Regulus: [How could you? You! You...! How could you butcher a man as kind and perfect as me?]

Kiyotaka: (I do feel a little butchery.)

Kiyotaka rushed in when Regulus appeared behind him.

Kiyotaka: (Finally taking me seriously?)

Regulus grabbed Kiyotaka by the throat and threw him towards the moon.

Kiyotaka: [Earth Clone!]

Kiyotaka created an Earth Clone as he locked feet with it in a squat as they both pushed their legs as Kiyotaka flew towards Regulus, landing next to him and kicking him, launching him into the building next to them as rubble began to fall. Kiyotaka quickly grabbed two small pieces, pocketing them.

Regulus: [How dare you! How dare you violate my『Authority Of Greed』and continue to live!!!]

Regulus jumped down, landing on his feet with rage in his eyes. Kiyotaka flicked a piece of rubble off to the side as Regulus's eyes traced it. He then flicked another piece of rubble to pass Regulus by. Regulus locked onto the rubble, flicked to the side, not noticing the one about to be sent flying next to him.

Kiyotaka: [『Transfer』.]

Regulus: [You're so predictable, you fool...]

Kiyotaka swapped places with the rubble as it passed Regulus, as his Knight robes flowed in the wind and he sliced Regulus, cutting him in half. Regulus's top half slid off, falling to the ground as Regulus remained conscious, using his authority to freeze the blood loss and pain he was experiencing, but this was just delaying the inevitable by 10 seconds.

Regulus: [Impossible, Impossible, Impossible. Why do I have to go through this? I am Regulus Corneas, the Witch Cult's『Archbishop of Greed』! I am not guilty of... any...thing...]

Regulus's eyes dulled, and his breath stopped.

Kiyotaka: (I did it, and I didn't die once...)

Kiyotaka felt Rergulus's blood on his face that had sprayed onto him after he had bisected him. Kiyotaka sighed, leaning his back on the rubble behind him.

Kiyotaka: (I'm ashamed of myself for taking this long to kill a man as pathetic as him. If this got out, it might tarnish my name as a knight and reflect badly on Lia.)

Kiyotaka laughed to himself a little when he got a headache.

Kiyotaka: (Ugh! That's all I have left for using『Transfer』. No way can I use it again today.)

Kiyotaka closed his eyes.

Kiyotaka: (I think I'll rest here for a while. Until Lia gets here...)

Kiyotaka fell asleep.
