Kimi turned away from Kolton and lifted her shoulders in a casual shrug as she addressed her friends.
"I made it clear to him that Bennett and I are together."
Olive shook her head with a frustrated sigh. "But everyone can see you feel nothing for Bennett. I pushed you to give him a shot, but your heart isn't in it, Kimi. You'll end up breaking Bennett's heart."
The truth in Olive's words hit Kimi like a cold wave. She couldn't accept Kolton, but she wouldn't use Bennett as a shield either.
"I already promised Bennett I'd try."
Kimi's confession made Olive and Rylie share a meaningful look before settling back onto their bar stools.
Olive reached over and gently touched Kimi's head. "Sweetheart, slow down and think. Follow your heart's desire. If Bennett is what you want, then fight for him. But if it's Kolton you're after—"
"Never. I don't want him anywhere near me. I can't trust him after what he did. He'll destroy me again."
