Brennan leaned back against the wall, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he studied Kolton. "So, care to explain what you were doing in the library?"
Kolton's jaw tightened slightly as he met Brennan's probing stare. The smirk on his friend's face was particularly irritating.
"Since when do you step foot in that place?" Nathan chimed in, crossing his arms. "I don't think I've ever seen you check out a single book."
Malachi let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. "What's next? Are you going to tell us you've developed a sudden passion for literature?"
Kimi shifted uncomfortably beside Alvin, feeling like an outsider in their tight-knit group. She barely knew these guys, and their casual banter made her feel even more awkward. She was contemplating making an excuse to leave when a familiar voice cut through the conversation.
"Kolton?"
