Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Tarkan stepped out of the cave and froze.

His heart instantly dropped

All the blood drained from his face

The sight before him was death waiting to happen.

As far as his eyes could see, the land was filled with different type of creatures

Foxes, snakes, jackals, birds circling above, and monsters he couldn't even name

there were Hundreds of them, maybe even more. All of them staring at him, still.

Every pair of their eyes locked onto the same thing, him.

They had likely been drawn by the scent of blood and sounds of battle

And standing there, bare-skinned, soaked in dried blood, with the wind brushing his naked body and his manhood swinging freely in the open, the monsters looked at Tarkan not like a living man.

He was a huge piece of meat in there eyes, a well bloodied and seasoned one infact.

The kind of meat monsters dream about fresh and tender.

He looked around, panic setting in

Every direction his eyes landed were filled with monsters, Crouching, staring and Waiting.

There was no path or opening he could use to escape.

He only had one option which was to run back into the cave.

At least there, he'd only need to face them from one side

He turned, ready to run

But when has anything in his life ever gone as planned?

Just as he stepped back toward the cave, he felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck, inches away from ripping his head clean off.

It all happened in less than a blink of an eye.

"REVERSE! Two seconds!" he screamed not out loud, but in his mind, shouting the command with everything he had.

Time moved backward, barely a second before the attack.

He threw himself sideways just in time

A pair of shadows tore past where his head had been, missing by a hair breath.

Missing there target two beasts landed there claws digging into the dirt.

Jackals

No something similar

They looked like jackals, but were taller, much leaner, and looked as black as charcoal

growling with glowing red eyes and saliva dripping from their jaws like acid.

They were looking at him with pure hunger in there eyes.

Behind him, he began feeling Movement and monsters Growls.

The others slowly inching close.

His body screamed at him to rest.

He was battered, half-dead already from fighting the cursed boars and was in no condition to fight.

The only thing holding him together was his sheer will

He could barely breathe

But giving to his Body demands meant dying, he felt so damn tired.

He clenched his teeth

Something in him snapped not with fear, but defiance.

"Heh... heh... hahaha.. You bastards really want me that bad, huh?"

His voice cracked, but his eyes burned with madness

"Well then... since you're all so eager to die" he shouted, a wild grin stretching across his blood-soaked face, "I'll gladly send you back to your maker!"

As if on cue, all the monsters began to charge at him.

They came from everywhere front, sides, above.

Claws swiped, wings flapped, fangs bared.

Tarkan looking sleep deprived with blood all over his naked body and madness in his eyes

ran straight into them.

No weapon, No armor, Just his bare fists and bloodied skin

The first jackal lunged Tarkan ducked under, drove a fist straight into its ribcage, heard the bones snap

Another came he kicked it sending it flying.

Then came a fox. He grabbed its snout and twisted it, until its neck gave way with a sickening crack.

Without stop, They kept coming from every angle.

Birds dove from the sky, there sharp claws ripping the air

Snakes coiled around his legs

Strange beasts with bulging eyes and bloated bodies charged at him with unnatural speed.

He didn't have time to think, Only act.

Every time something got too him_

Reverse

One second

Two seconds.

Just enough to avoid a fatal blow, and strike first.

It became a rhythm.

He wasn't fighting anymore. He was reacting and Moving on instinct.

One punch dead, One kick another gone.

Every motion followed a natural path, as if his body already knew what to do before his mind caught up.

And yet, he wasn't as invincible as he seems.

Every part of him was screaming to just lie down and rest.

But he couldn't afford to stop.

If he fell, even for a moment it was over for him.

The battle continued deep into the night.

The moon faded.

Then, finally, the horizon began to bleed orange

Showing a spectacular shine of Sunrise.

But there was nothing beautiful about it.

The ground was soaked in blood.

Corpses of monsters littered all around the field some torn in half, others crushed beyond recognition.

And in the middle of it all stood Tarkan.

Naked, and Shaking from exhaustion. His Skin all red with fresh and dried blood.

Eyes blank, yet radiating raw killing intent.

He had long stopped counting how many he'd killed.

Dozens? Hundreds?

At some point, the monsters with there low IQ realized

This was no prey.

It was the other way around

He was a freaking monster

The few that remained backed away, slowly.

Some whimpered.

Others bolted without a thought.

Within seconds, the horde of monsters vanished like a bad dream.

Tarkan stood alone.

breathing heavily, Knees trembling, His arms dropped to his sides

ping.

A cold voice echoed in his mind:

He was to exhausted to even react at the completion of his success of passing his awakening trial.

Just as he was barely keeping him self from loosing consciousness

A heartreaching pain hit his body.

Worse than the one he had on entering the trial.

But before the pain could even register for him to scream

His body seized He dropped to his knees, loosing conscious

And just like the first time his body began to tear itself apart.

Bone by bone

Muscle by muscle

He disintegrated

reintegrated

Over and over again.

As if reality couldn't decide whether to let him die or evolve.

After a while

a portal opened
