Chapter 9 - The Ancestral Hall Summons

The sun had barely risen when a clan messenger arrived.

"Young Master Lin Tian, the elders request your presence in the ancestral hall."

Lin Tian smiled faintly.

They had sensed it—his breakthrough, the heavenly phenomena. And now, they were restless.

Clad in black robes, he entered the ancestral hall. Seated in a semi-circle were the Lin Clan elders, faces stern, eyes deep with suspicion.

At their center sat Lin Jade, arms folded, smirk subtle.

"Lin Tian," Elder Zhou began, "you were seen leaving the scroll vault… and last night, a storm gathered above our land."

"Coincidence?" Lin Jade added mockingly.

Lin Tian stepped forward.

"Not coincidence. I've awakened the Heaven-Devouring Dragon Art. The power within me belongs to the Lin Clan's ancestors. You should be proud."

The hall fell silent.

Lin Jade narrowed his eyes. "Bold words. Power requires proof."

He turned to the elders. "I propose a fair challenge. The outer disciples' Trial of Stone Steps begins tomorrow. Let Lin Tian compete—if he survives."

The challenge was meant for advanced outer disciples. The Stone Steps crushed the weak with spiritual pressure and soul illusions.

"Agreed," said the Head Elder. "Let merit speak."

Lin Tian chuckled.

"Fine. I'll show you how weak your chosen disciples truly are."

As he turned to leave, Lin Jade whispered, "Enjoy your last sunrise, cousin."

Lin Tian didn't stop walking. But lightning cracked beneath his heels.

"Let's see who survives, Jade."
