Ed was driving back from the city when the communicator rang. It was Zach.
"Hey my friend, how did Elton's appointment go today?" Zach asked.
"It went well. We will be home in about an hour and he can go over the details of what the doctor found. How's everything going there?" Ed paused, listening. "You don't say... really? Is everything okay? Great, his name is what? Okay, well that sounds a lot better. I'll let everyone know and we will see you at your office when we arrive."
Ed turned to address the passengers in the backseat. "Well, while we have been gone today, things at the ranch got a little busy. Lex went into labor and in thirty-seven minutes Christopher Zachariah Benjamin Ryman was born, weighing in at eleven pounds seven and three-quarter ounces. Baby and dad are doing great, and oh, by the way, Zach said to call him Scooter."
Carter smiled. "Yep, that's a whole lot easier for the kid, that is for sure."
