Meanwhile, a transformation occurred with Mirai Kimizuki, suspended in the sky. A massive fissure opened on her back, spewing a torrent of dark energy that coalesced into a demonic form.
Kureto Hīragi, achieving his objective, announced, "It has arrived—the fifth horn's summoning, the destructive demon Abaddon. Humanity has successfully controlled the fallen angel."
Ironically, despite being called a "fallen angel," the creature resembled a demon more than an angel—hideously ugly and terrifying.
Aoki, disregarding the implications, shouted, "Everyone, retreat immediately!"
But Shiho Kimizuki refused to retreat. "Are you kidding me? That's my sister! I can't abandon her! You go ahead; this is my problem, not yours. I have to save her."
As Shiho Kimizuki started towards Mirai Kimizuki, Aoki punched him.
"You idiot! What good will you do staying here? Dying? You think you're something special? Do you even know your own limitations?! Saving her? How? The best choice is to leave now, and come back when you're strong enough."
Aoki's punch knocked Shiho Kimizuki to the ground, shaking his resolve.
While everyone was distracted, Mikaela Hyakuya carried the unconscious Yūichirō Hyakuya away.
"It's over, the ugliness is over. Yūichirō Hyakuya, let's go, leave this place, away from those greedy humans, and live a life just for the two of us," Mikaela said, slicing through one of Abaddon's Four Horsemen.
But Yūichirō Hyakuya awoke.
"Yūichirō Hyakuya, it's alright now; I'll take you away from here."
"What about Guren Ichinose? I have to save him!"
"Don't say that; you can barely stand."
"What about Aoki and the others?"
"They stayed behind. Don't worry about them; we're leaving now."
"But...we have to save them! They're in danger! They're my family!"
"Your family is only me."
"No! Guren Ichinose, Aoki, Shinoa Hīragi, Yoichi Saotome, Shiho Kimizuki, Mitsuba Sangū, Mirai Kimizuki, and you—all of you are my family, Mikaela."
Mikaela fell silent. After a long pause, he said weakly, "That… that demon… no one can defeat it. Unless… unless another demon like it appears. It's still possible; let's go, Yūichirō Hyakuya."
Meanwhile, after Aoki's punch, Shiho Kimizuki calmed down somewhat, analyzing the situation. He realized that charging in would be suicidal, and Aoki's suggestion—to return when stronger—was the best option.
"I…" Before Shiho Kimizuki could finish, Aoki noticed another energy surge in the distance, remarkably similar to Abaddon's.
A colossal pillar of fire, reaching the heavens, appeared. Instantly, all the Four Horsemen lost power, like robots cut off from their energy source.
Aoki's gaze shot towards the pillar. Using his Rinnegan, he saw a familiar figure within the fiery column.
Yūichirō Hyakuya.
He understood immediately. No one could defeat Abaddon, the fallen angel, but another fallen angel might stand a chance, even if not on their side.
And besides Mirai Kimizuki, only Yūichirō Hyakuya had previously transformed into a fallen angel.
Seeing Yūichirō Hyakuya within the pillar, Aoki realized Yūichirō Hyakuya was using the fallen angel to fight the fallen angel.
"Damn it, why cause trouble now?!" Aoki gritted his teeth. "Everyone, I'm reversing the retreat order! The situation has changed. That pillar of fire is Yūichirō Hyakuya, transformed into a fallen angel, likely to counter the other fallen angel. We must rescue Yūichirō Hyakuya before retreating."
Everyone was stunned, but it made sense. Yūichirō Hyakuya had lost control in Shinjuku, resembling Mirai Kimizuki; a fallen angel was likely within him.
"Sir Kureto, a new fallen angel's energy signature has been detected, originating from that pillar of fire. The identity is currently unknown," Mitsuba Sangū reported to Kureto Hīragi.
"What's going on? What does this mean?" Kureto Hīragi stared at the towering pillar of fire, an unforeseen development.
"I don't know, but if we let this continue…" Aoi Sangū trailed off.
"If we let this continue, the world will be destroyed again, won't it?" Kureto Hīragi finished Aoi Sangū's sentence. "Divine punishment indeed. But even if we must oppose the gods, humanity must advance. Mitsuba, crush the other fallen angel."
"Yes! Full-scale assault! Crush the fallen angel!" Aoi Sangū obeyed Kureto Hīragi's command, sending the cannon fodder towards the fiery pillar.
Even Aoki was at a loss. He'd faced battles for humanity's survival, but this was different. The scale of the conflict with the fallen angels dwarfed even his previous experiences; the Demon Slayer world was insignificant compared to the fallen angels.
The battle between two fallen angels would be devastating. Aoki lacked the power to confront them; even if he overexerted his chakra for a Void-Emptying Thunderclap, he couldn't kill Mirai Kimizuki or Yūichirō Hyakuya, only defeat them.
He looked at the Yōyū in his hand.
"If I unleash that power…" He quickly dismissed the thought. "No, I absolutely cannot unleash that power. If that thing gets out, even two fallen angels might not be able to contain it."
