Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Invitation

The three finally collapsed, and the entire bar was thoroughly 'slaughtered' by the President. Fujimoto, standing at the entrance, couldn't help but tremble at the shocking sight, thinking it was a good thing he switched sides quickly and stood on this end.

Facing three of their organization's strongest Bloodmoon Four Heavenly Kings, and achieving a triple kill in one go, this level of crushing power far exceeded their past imagination of the so-called "pinnacle of the dueling world."

Kaiba Seto hadn't publicly dueled for many years, and outsiders had varying opinions about his strength. There were even rumors that he was so engrossed in business and making money that his dueling skills had become rusty, and his strength might be ordinary in the current environment.

Now, Fujimoto clearly realized how ridiculous such a statement was.

The evolution of the dueling environment over the years didn't mean that the gap between others and the top tier had narrowed. On the contrary, the gap was even more exaggerated than many years ago.

This man was playing a completely different game of Yu-Gi-Oh than them.

Yugen, on the other hand, was very calm.

Thankfully, the Blue-Eyes coats the President currently used were still recognizable to him; at least he hadn't pulled out a coat he'd never seen in his previous life. The power was undoubtedly overwhelming in the context of ordinary duelists of this era, but it hadn't reached the peak of Blue-Eyes yet.

Watching these two duels made Yugen realize even more that strong individuals in this world could truly do whatever they wanted under the suppression of destiny. Secondly, he realized that if he had money and a team to conduct scientific research to print new coats, he would be even more motivated.

It seemed that in the future, he would not only have to find ways to increase his destiny power but also diligently study scientific research and development.

After the President finished his duel, Kaiba Corp personnel followed in to clean up the battle scene.

Kaiba walked over to the three individuals who had been laid flat.

"You won," Ryosuke, one of the Three Heavenly Kings, said weakly. "We are convinced, Kaiba Seto. Our Bloodmoon is at your disposal."

Although Kaiba's duel disk image quality output didn't claim their lives, the intense battle they had just experienced still left them seriously injured.

"I have no interest in an insignificant organization," Kaiba said indifferently. "From the very beginning, I was only interested in 'The Arbiter'."

Upon hearing this name, all the dark duelists in the room, who had been defeated and lay scattered, instantly trembled, as if hearing the whispers of a devil.

Aikawa Takuya, kneeling on the ground, stammered with great effort: "How do you know that great lord's title!?"

"Of course I know. I also know that your so-called organization is nothing but a bunch of worthless pawns," Kaiba said coolly.

All the dark duelists' faces immediately turned ugly.

"Our understanding of that great lord is limited to that title alone... we usually don't even dare to casually mention that name."

The female bartender calmed her ragged breathing and said.

"Besides, if you've truly heard of how terrifying that great lord is, you should understand that even if we knew something, we wouldn't be able to tell you."

"That's not necessarily true," Kaiba said coldly. "I naturally have ways to make you speak."

He turned away, no longer bothering with these people, leaving the aftermath to his subordinates to clear the area, escorting the captured dark individuals out one by one. It seemed he intended to interrogate them slowly after bringing them back.

Afterward, Kaiba turned and walked towards the entrance.

At this point, Fujimoto, who had completely switched sides, eagerly smiled, trying to greet him: "President is mighty! A triple kill, I truly never expected it, so powerful..."

However, before he could finish his greeting, he heard a click. His smile froze, and he looked down to see a Kaiba Corp soldier had ruthlessly clamped a cold silver handcuff onto his wrist.

"Huh?"

Fujimoto looked up blankly.

"Big brother, are you mistaken? We're family, right?"

No one paid attention. The two soldiers dragged him out.

His cries continued from outside the door: "Family! I rendered service to the President, I guided the way for the President! I want to see the President—"

The sound faded outside the door.

Kaiba ignored the superfluous noise and walked directly up to Yugen.

"Yugen. Is that right?"

"Good evening, President," Yugen said, shaking his hand.

"I heard about the matter, and I also express Kaiba Corp's gratitude," Kaiba nodded. "Mokuba told me his plan, and I have no objection to his arrangements.

The prize money and cards he arranged will be given to you as usual, as thanks."

He paused, his eyes narrowing.

"However, I have one condition."

As he spoke, he held a piece of paper between two fingers, and with a light flick of his arm, the paper smoothly flew straight towards Yugen.

To be honest, Yugen truly admired the President's card-flying prowess. In the anime, cards he flicked from his fingertips could fly out like shurikens, and it seemed their destructive power wasn't weak, which made one wonder if he had practiced some kind of powerful skill like the "Finger Flicking Divine Technique."

Yugen took it and saw it was a card. But it wasn't a duel card; it was a strange card printed with a five-pointed star shape.

"This is?"

"An entry card," Kaiba said, crossing his arms, a slight smirk on his lips. "Half a year from now, in Domino City, Kaiba Corp will host 'Duel City GX'."

Yugen seemed to understand: "You want me to participate?"

The Duel City tournaments weren't just one event; besides the first one in the DM storyline, they continued for several years afterward. However, Kaiba Seto himself never participated again, and the overall quality of the contestants in later tournaments couldn't compare to the initial ones, so the attention had somewhat declined.

As if sensing what he was thinking, Kaiba said calmly: "This time will be different from previous years. I will personally participate, and I will invite the top duelists to participate."

The President is making a comeback? Yugen found it somewhat surprising.

Street rumors all said that after Yugi's retirement, President Kaiba had no desire to fight again. For years, no matter the type or scale of the tournament, his figure was never seen.

Perhaps he felt that without the opponent he absolutely had to defeat, even winning against all other duelists in the world wouldn't prove anything.

But now, it seemed he showed signs of returning.

Of course, it's also possible it's simply years of pent-up dueling addiction that he can no longer suppress.

In fact, when Duel Academy opened, it was touted as a school founded "to cultivate a new generation of Duel Kings." When Yugen saw this advertisement, he imagined: Atem returned to the afterlife, Yugi retired from the dueling world, and the President scoured the world, seeking a single defeat but finding none. Yet, his dueling addiction constantly flared up, becoming increasingly difficult to control. Thus, he decided to invest heavily in creating a top-tier school, searching the world for the most talented seeds, and meticulously nurturing the next generation of Duel Kings to resolve the dueling addiction that had tormented him for years.

"Alright."

Yugen nodded and accepted the entry card.

If it was a tournament personally overseen by the President, at the very least, the prize money would surely be substantial.

He recalled how Pegasus, when organizing the Duelist Kingdom tournament, even generously offered six percent of his company's shares to the champion. Winning a tournament of that caliber would directly grant lifelong financial freedom.

At this moment, Kaiba had already exited, stepping onto the rope ladder dangling from the helicopter hovering in the sky.

As he ascended with the helicopter, one hand gripping the rope, his coat flapped like a battle flag in the giant trunade of the rotor blades, and he sneered from above.

"If you are a true duelist, then overcome all obstacles, surmount all high walls and barriers, and in that merciless Duel City, come before me!

I hope you won't disappoint me like those common mortals!"

Yugen: "..."

So, President, you can just talk, but why do you have to mock Joey too?
