Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 – The Day the Dragon Roared

Phase 1 – Genesis of the One Above All

Viserys struck her again.

It happened in public.

Outside the bronze gates of Illyrio's estate, as they left a meeting with emissaries from the Free Cities. Kael was in the crowd, disguised as always—but his eyes never left her. And when the back of Viserys' hand met Daenerys' cheek, something inside Kael snapped.

She didn't cry.

She didn't fall.

She simply stood there, face red and stinging, eyes locked on the ground—silent.

And that silence was louder than any scream.

"Let it break," Kael growled.

"Then give me one exception. Just one."

Denied.

"Then bring the storm."

That evening, Kael disappeared into the cliffs.

The wind howled.

The waves roared.

And Kael stood barefoot on jagged stone, shirtless under the stars, the ocean spray stinging his face.

"You created this world," the System said. "You shaped its physics. Its laws. Its cruelty."

"Yes," Kael said. "But I also created balance."

"Then use it."

Kael's hand traced the air, not with divine magic, but ancient calculation. He summoned no spells, but the weather itself listened to him. His knowledge, infinite. His hands, still mortal.

And the skies darkened.

A storm was coming.

Pentos – Three Days Later

Viserys had begun drinking.

Illyrio was growing impatient.

A Khalasar had yet to arrive, and the silver-haired prince had grown more erratic, dragging Daenerys through markets, threatening merchants, shouting about dragons and thrones.

Kael trailed from the rooftops.

He'd been patient. Planning.

Tonight, patience ended.

The tavern courtyard was half-lit when Viserys made his final mistake.

He shoved Daenerys into a wall in front of twenty people—cursing her for not smiling at a Lyseni captain. "Smile, you stupid girl!" he snarled. "You're supposed to tempt them. That's all you're good for!"

Kael stepped from the shadows, slow and deliberate.

"Touch her again," he said calmly, "and I'll break your fingers."

Gasps. Silence. Daenerys's head snapped toward him—eyes wide.

Viserys turned, confused. "Who the fuck are you?"

"I'm the man you should've feared before you hit her."

Viserys laughed, drunk and twitching. "Another fool sniffing around my sister? She's mine. I'll sell her to whichever savage pays the most goats."

Kael's hand cracked across Viserys's face with such force it sent him spinning to the dirt.

Everyone froze.

[System Note: Restraint Threshold Reset – Divine Energy Use: 0% – Compliance Maintained]

Viserys scrambled to his feet, dazed. "I'll have you killed!"

Kael stepped forward. "Try."

The prince lunged, swinging a dagger with drunken fury.

Kael grabbed his wrist, twisted it with surgical precision, and broke it clean. The dagger clattered to the ground, and Viserys screamed like a child.

Kael let him fall.

Then turned to Daenerys.

She stared at him as if seeing the moon for the first time.

Illyrio had questions.

Kael answered them like a seasoned mercenary. A sword-for-hire from Lys who just happened to hate princelings and had a soft spot for mistreated girls.

Illyrio believed it.

Or at least pretended to. He was, after all, a man who understood masks.

He even invited Kael into the estate, offering him guest quarters.

Kael accepted.

Because now… he was in.

And she was safe—for now.

Later that night, Daenerys knocked on his chamber door.

He opened it to find her in a simple robe, her hair loose, face unreadable.

"I don't know your name," she said quietly.

"Kael," he said. "Just Kael."

"Thank you… Kael."

He bowed slightly. "You don't owe me anything."

She shook her head. "I owe you my first breath of freedom."

They stood in silence for a long moment, the air thick with things unsaid.

Then she asked, "Why do you care?"

He hesitated, then spoke the closest thing to truth he could offer.

"Because I saw you in a dream once… and I knew I'd never let you break."

Her eyes shimmered. Not with tears. But with something deeper.

Something warmer.

Kael watched her go that night.

She hadn't asked to stay.

She hadn't leaned in to kiss him.

But her fingers had lingered on his sleeve as she turned. A pause. A silent thank you in touch.

The dragon girl was beginning to open her wings.

And Kael knew…

This was only the beginning.
