Chapter Twenty-One: The Winner
After the brutal clash of Maxim and Lynix, Lynix was the only one standing after the aftermath.
He was holding the head of unconscious Maxim, who was still letting tears out of his eyes— a sign for many that he was not fully unconscious.
As soon as this happened, the instructor jumped into the arena and announced Lynix as the winner of the fight, while Maxim gained consciousness and spoke to Lynix in a weak tone,
"Why did I lose, am I not talented enough?"
Hearing his words, Lynix looked at him and replied,
"No, you are a prodigy, but the difference is that you're a genius and I'm a monster."
Hearing his words, the whole crowd went silent. Lynix then gently placed Maxim on the ground.
The instructor announced that Maxim was eliminated and would be sent back after the treatment.
In the aftermath of their battle, the whole arena was destroyed. There was rubble everywhere, with some of the students' stands also getting affected by the aftermath.
Scared looks could be seen on almost every student in the stands after witnessing the power of a 2nd-year and their colleague. They knew the gap between their skills and his.
But far away from the arena, a figure was watching them from the sky.
Then suddenly, the figure decided it was time for him to make an appearance.
The figure then swiftly glided through the wind and reached the arena and soon the stage. The figure landed there and looked at the instructor.
As soon as the instructor saw, he bowed his head along with the second-year students to show the figure respect and shouted,
"All of the contestants, show some respect to Dean Ollivier, the current Dean of the Academy!"
As soon as the contenders knew who he was, many of them bowed their heads—except a few.
The Dean looked at the students who did not bow their heads down. Sure enough, he found one person's face among them—Michael Ollivier.
Michael was looking at the Dean with emptiness in his eyes.
Michael then thought in his mind,
"I still can't forgive you for what you did."
The Dean sighed looking at Michael and whispered into his consciousness,
"Oh dear Michael... you are too much like him."
As soon as those two finished sharing glances, the Dean once again looked at the crowd and said,
"Today's battle is over. Go outside the Imperial Academy gates for today and come back tomorrow. You can borrow tent materials from the instructor or stay in a place you like."
As soon as the Dean said those words, he disappeared into thin air without leaving any trace behind him.
As soon as the Dean left, the students began to go to the instructor for the materials.
Valen, still thinking about the fight, remembered Lynix's words and muttered to himself,
"If he dares cross paths with me, I will show him who is the devil."

4 Hours Later
Outside of the Imperial Academy gates, everyone had set up their camps.
As they all were taking a nap, things were not the same in all places.
Valen, Lucian, and Vesper—the trio—were having fun playing games like children, because they were children at the time, and they were not afraid to show their weak side to one another like other people.
Valen, while playing, asked the two of them,
"Hey guys, what is your biggest fear? I can start with mine—it's my dreams."
Hearing his words, they both also shared their own fears.
Lucian started with,
"Mountains that are large enough to pierce through clouds."
The other two laughed at his fear and made fun of him, and so did Lucian of Valen. Then suddenly, Vesper spoke and said,
"Maybe my fear is a man with no purpose and full understanding of life... just thinking about a man like that scares me."
Then the other two also made fun of him, and eventually they went to sleep.
