A small, victorious smile crawled across my lips as I locked eyes with Adrian across the leaping flames.
“This place is covered in oil—it’s going to burn well,” I called out smugly.
Confusion and anger swam across Adrian’s face as he helplessly opened and closed his mouth in surprise. Embers encircled his feet as he remained firmly trapped behind the wall of fire. One wrong move, and he would be reduced to ashes. Below me, on the ground floor, I could spot the last trickle of panicked men and women making their way out of the burning building. With the bottom level cleared and Adrian safely restrained, I was free to explore the upper floors. Any mess left behind me would be handled by the competent butler I knew was trailing my footsteps.
“I’ll be taking a tour of your lab now, Adrian,” I announced with a cheeky smile as I turned my back on him.
