Kyle gently brushed away the tear lingering in the corner of Noa’s eye. His voice was gentle as he asked, “Did you have a frightening dream?”
“Yes,” she breathed out quietly.
“What of?”
“The past… and something that happened when I found my body,” she shared hesitantly.
Kyle hummed in understanding. Her trip to her original realm was indeed at the heart of her strange behavior of late. Although he longed to inquire further—to delve into her pain so that he may vanquish it forever—he found himself unwilling to cross the boundary she’d put up. At the moment, ensuring her comfort and sleep was of far greater importance than his own curiosity.
“You need not speak of it until you are ready. I shall wait forever if need be,” Kyle assured her. As Noa remained silent, he continued softly, “Let us try and sleep for now. This time, may your dreams be pleasant.”
