Chapter 7 - Chapter Five: Ariana Quinn

The air was thick with the smell of mildew, decay, and smoke. Crates, boxes, and pallets were stacked haphazardly, creating a maze-like atmosphere. A makeshift office was set up in a corner, with a desk, chairs, and some communication devices.

As we passed by the armed men, their cold gazes followed me, making me feel uneasy. Shane led me deeper into the warehouse, his footsteps echoing off the concrete walls. Suddenly, he stopped in front of a heavy metal door guarded by two more suited men.

Having all these men around me made me nervous, but ARMED men made my skin crawl.

He turned the knob, not looking back but opening it just enough for me to get in.

The door slammed shut behind me, the lock clicking into place with a deafening sound. I spun around, My heart racing. The room was dimly lit, but I saw him instantly – a man tied to a chair, his body exposed and vulnerable. Electric wires wrapped around him like snakes, and black tape gagged his mouth.

A scream lodged in my throat and I slapped my mouth shut before it could escape. I refused to process what I was seeing.

Shane's gun clattered onto the table, and I felt a cold sweat break out on my forehead

My gaze darted to the three suited men standing beside the table, expressionless. Each of them held a gun, their fingers resting on the triggers.

Shane's hands slipped into a pair of black gloves, and the sound of leather stretching sent fear prickling at the base of my neck.

He stood tall, his broad back to me, and then he bent slightly at the waist, his movements fluid and deliberate, as he lowered himself to the man's eye level.

"I heard you tried to flee the country," He said, his voice low and menacing.

The atmosphere was thick with unspoken emotions, making it clear that everyone was feeling the weight of the moment and I could feel the darkness emanating from him.

The man's chair creaked as he struggled against his restraints. I could see the fear etched on his face, his eyes wide and pleading. A wave of nausea washed over me, and I felt my legs tremble beneath me. My pulse quickened, and I locked my knees to keep myself from collapsing.

Shane was handed a small remote control, and I instantly knew it was for the electric wires that they tied the man up with.

The man's struggles grew more frantic, but he was secured too tightly.

"Take it off," Shane ordered one of his men, nodding towards the gag and he ripped the tape off instantly.

The man gasped loudly, air rushing back into his lungs "Shane, please..." His voice was laced with desperation and fear.

Shane's thumb pressed down on the remote and the man's body shook violently, his groans resonated through the room.

Time seemed to slow as he held the button down for what felt like an eternity. Finally, he released it, exhaling a low sigh

"Do you know what I love more than anything, Kim?" His voice trailed off briefly before he answered himself, "My money." Those two words were steeped in hostility, making me shudder.

"I-I-I'm sorry..." Kim begged, voice trembling, but Shane's expression remained unforgiving.

"You're not sorry, you're scared," he told flatly. Then, without hesitation, he tapped the button again.

My mind recoiled in horror. Did Shane even have a heart at all?

The man's terrifying screams echoed through the warehouse and a silent cry escaped my lips.

I hit my breaking point and sprinted to the door, banging and screaming for someone to unlock it, but two of Shane's men caught up, yanking my arms and dragging me back, I tried to break free but their hold was too strong. I was forced to watch Shane torture an innocent man.

"Where's my money, Kim?" His tone was so sharp, it could cut diamonds.

"I don't have it" Kim cried in his chair, sobbing miserably. "Please…"

Shane's finger hovered over the button before he hit it again. I watched as life slowly seeped out of the man's eyes until Shane stopped it.

"Where's my money?" he asked Kim, voice laced with apathy while Kim sobbed uncontrollably.

His finger twitched back to the button when Kim's desperate cry cut through "I gambled it"

Shane let out a heavy sigh as he stood up, his movements abrupt as he threw the remote on the table with a careless laugh. "See…That wasn't so hard, was it?" he muttered bitterly.

Kim burst into tears. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'll pay you back I promise" his words hung in the air before Shane casually reached for a silencer pistol on the table.

He raised the pistol and pulled the trigger. The silenced shot echoed softly through the room, and a large, nasty hole instantly appeared in Kim's forehead. Blood and brain matter splattered onto the wall.

I freed myself from his men's grip. My stomach churned violently, and I barely managed to turn away before vomiting. With nothing left to hold me up, my legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the cold, hard floor.

He killed him

Shane killed a man

He was a murderer.

I felt his footsteps grow closer, the snap of leather as he removed his bloodied gloves, and a wave of disgust washed over me.

He lowered himself to one knee beside me, his large hand coming to rest on my shoulder.

He inched closer, his lips grazing my ear as he whispered, "This will happen to your entire family if your daddy doesn't pay me back in time.". With that threat, he stood up, and gave orders to his men, "Take her to my place and give her a sleeping shot."

Two well-muscled men yanked me up, ignoring my weak struggles. They carried me out, the door slammed shut, the sound echoing behind me. I felt a sudden prick in my arm, the cold liquid spreading through my veins.

The world turned blurry, and everything went dark.
