As white smoke appeared, the trees around Gekko Chizan were instantly crushed.
Two massive bodies suddenly emerged on the forest battlefield.
One blue, one gold.
They were the Azure-Scale Serpent and the Golden Python—Kurohebi and Jinlin.
"Hmph, kid, I was sleeping and you called me here!"
"Huh? The smell of blood—is this a battlefield?"
Kurohebi began complaining the moment she appeared, clearly unhappy with Gekko Chizan. But halfway through her complaint, her massive serpent eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Kurohebi, happy now?"
"This is the battlefield between Konoha and Kumogakure."
"Jinlin, I'll be counting on you again."
Standing atop Jinlin's head, Gekko Chizan crossed his arms, eyes sweeping the battlefield below with a sly smile.
"Fight? You don't need to tell me that!"
Jinlin's sense of smell was even sharper than Kurohebi's. Upon smelling blood, she instantly entered battle mode. Her massive body began weaving through the forest.
"Kurohebi! Watch your poison! Don't hurt our allies!"
Even in the heat of charging, Jinlin shouted a warning.
Kurohebi stuck out her tongue in irritation and muttered,
"I know, I know, you're not Elder Sister, yet you nag just like her. So annoying!"
What was spoken carelessly was heard intently.
Gekko Chizan caught that line clearly.
Elder Sister? Could it be Jinlin isn't the strongest among their sisters?
"What? Curious now?"
"I'm not the eldest. I'm the third. Kurohebi's the fourth."
"There are two sisters above me. As for them... well, maybe they don't think you're worthy yet, hehehe..."
Jinlin's words sparked something in Gekko Chizan's mind—there were two more giant serpents?
He hadn't seen them during his visits to Ryūchi Cave...
Now that was intriguing.
Jinlin's enormous python body rampaged across the battlefield. With her keen perception, she skillfully avoided the Konoha shinobi.
She charged directly toward the Kumogakure ninja.
"Damn! That snake's huge!"
"Is it Orochimaru?"
Dodai dodged a punch from Akimichi Torifu. That enormous serpent had caught his eye immediately.
His first thought was of Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin of Konoha—after all, his summons were snakes.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
The final battle between the nations hadn't yet begun. Konoha wouldn't place all three Sannin on the same battlefield.
Unless they planned a full-scale offensive.
Besides, Orochimaru's snakes were always purple or brown—never golden or blue.
Dodai's expression darkened.
Massive summoning beasts could be game-changers in battle—especially snakes, creatures born to fight.
"Hmph, Dodai, if you think you can breach Konoha's defenses, you're delusional."
"Hahahahaha!"
With reinforcements, Akimichi Torifu's morale soared.
"Super Multi-Size Technique!"
To crush the last bit of confidence in Dodai, Torifu unleashed his strongest jutsu.
In an instant, a giant, fat man appeared on the battlefield.
Not only did he startle the Kumogakure forces—he even startled Gekko Chizan.
"Whoa! That's a big guy!"
"Hmm... oh... he's the clan head of the Akimichi clan..."
"Jinlin, Kurohebi!"
"Keep attacking! Let's end this quickly!"
Seeing his allies unleash their trump cards, Gekko Chizan immediately gave the order to advance.
Though he didn't need to. Jinlin was already happily butchering her enemies, her massive python body acting as a living tank, charging through the Kumogakure shinobi.
Kurohebi was gentler by comparison. She slowly opened her jaws.
The green-glowing venom turned into ribbon-like streams, spreading across the battlefield.
Where the venom ribbons passed, all plant life withered.
When they touched the Kumogakure shinobi, the toxic liquid instantly claimed their lives.
"Tsk tsk... Kurohebi's poison is terrifying..."
"Of course. Unlike me, who fills my body with natural energy to boost strength, Kurohebi channels natural energy into her venom sacs, enhancing her poisons and making them easier to use."
So she specializes in poisons?
That's a rather unique training method.
"Damn it! Everyone, retreat!"
Under pressure, Dodai had no choice but to order a retreat.
In just a short time, the arrival of the two giant serpents had caused massive casualties among his troops.
Konoha, bolstered by reinforcements, was only gaining momentum.
Most crucially, these reinforcements likely weren't just two individuals—if the main force arrived, they'd be in real trouble.
"Lava Release: Rubber Wall!"
To cover his troops' retreat, Dodai exploded into action again.
A massive rubber wall instantly formed in front of him. Disregarding chakra consumption, he used it to trap Torifu's legs and halt his advance.
After finishing this, Dodai turned to run.
But the moment he turned, every hair on his body stood on end.
A bad feeling surged through him.
The next second, he tilted his head just in time to see a kunai fly past his face.
He was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he heard a devilish whisper...
"Hehehe... leaving so easily? That won't do..."
"Taijutsu Secret Technique! Thousand Years of Death—Spiral Ascent!"
Dodai didn't even have time to react. In the next instant, he suffered a heavy blow.
His entire body reeled in dizziness.
Then a wave of searing pain shot from his lower body to his brain.
"Aaaaagh!!!"
A scream erupted uncontrollably from the depths of his throat.
Dodai was instantly launched like a human tornado, flying toward the direction of the Kumogakure retreat.
After finishing, Gekko Chizan slowly released his tiger hand seal, a mischievous grin on his face.
"This is just a little payback."
"Hehehehe..."
Just moments ago, when Gekko Chizan heard Dodai call for retreat, he moved.
He hurled a Flying Thunder God kunai with full force, aiming at Dodai's head to catch up with his retreating steps.
With his Insect Eyes locking onto the target, there was no chance he'd miss. But he also knew someone like Dodai—seasoned in war—would be highly alert.
So the kunai was just a feint. The real strike was Flying Thunder God + Spiral Thousand Years of Death.
No one saw it happen. Dodai's rubber wall had blocked Konoha's field of vision. If not for standing on Jinlin's head and having a high vantage point, Chizan wouldn't have caught the timing.
Afterward, Gekko Chizan teleported back to his camp with Flying Thunder God.
"Jinlin, Kurohebi, the enemy's retreating."
"Thanks for your help."
Jinlin looked out at the retreating enemy, sticking out her tongue reluctantly. The green serpent also slowly retracted all her poison.
"Not bad, kid. Since today's fight was fun, I'll let go of last time's grudge."
"Let's go."
Poof! Poof!
With two bursts of smoke, Jinlin and Kurohebi vanished.
This signaled the end of the battle.
...
A/N: As for Dodai, well, his skills were solid. He had saved Naruto from the rapid assault of the Third raikage and was quite adept with Lava Release.
Unfortunately, he was unlikeable—so I sent him a Thousand Years of Death.
