Chapter 19 - Chapter 14 (Part 3)

During the month, Adam has also managed to ingratiate themselves with the southern quarter of Elysia as a lively and lovely newcomer as well as the eastern quarter and they had grown accustomed to his presence

Each time he stepped out of those house, he took his time to be amazed and enthralled by the giant cathedral in the centre of Elysia, white, adorned with gold and five spires.

One in each corner with walls joining them in between and a giant spire in the middle emerging from the main building and large enough to pass as a castle.

These were all on top of towers but were not available to the general public and were even very limitedly allowed to a select few members of the church, such as the Archbishop, which he had found out after Adam attempted to visit the towers—and been denied entry, much to his dismay.

From his few visits, what he could tell was that the being that the church worshipped was not actually a god, but a High/Arch Spirit, that took the shape of a white fish with a golden fin and cage like structure at the front.

Which justified the emphasis on the gold and white in all of the decor in the church—He idly noted whether he shouldn't have made his weapons that colour—Lord Yang, was it referred to by devotees and church personnel alike and so Adam rightly assumed the spirit was male.

And by the name Dawntide knights, which the knights of the church held, he assumed it had something to do with the sun and the ocean, supported by the logo of the church.

A golden sun, with the lower half replaced with waves.

Adam had been helping out around the town and generally done some objectively good deeds, but he noticed that he hadn't been getting any stronger nor gaining any powers.

He confronted Thea about this when he talked to her, which he did so every night when he fell asleep. She spoke thus.

'Abilities cannot be granted for every little bird saved or old woman helped, Lord Adam. Lady Dea also wishes for you to understand the power system better than her—if I may be so bold to call it crude—explanation. I suggest enrolling in the same magic institute as Miss Luna'

I believe it is time for the deal that has been

preluded to.

Back to present time—i.e after the month that had passed—Adam woke up.

Today was the day he was set to arrive and when Adam would have to give his answer.

Mental states were mixed. Thalion was going about as if it was any other day, Luna was slightly worried while Eleanor was tense as Adam descended clearly in anticipation for the incoming visitor of despair.

Adam had one hour to eat breakfast and talk, lightening up everyone's mood. Then, he arrived.

The door had been left unlocked for his entry.

Flanked by two Dawntide knights on either side, silent with their face completely covered by their helmets, Eidaroob made his entry.

He had a rounded face, with small eyes the size of pinpricks. He was a fat, balding man with a grey ordinary moustache and the same side burns. One would estimate his age to be in the high fifties, Adam thought.

His face was one such that it always appeared to have a sneering expression—filled with wrinkles—and that was what he entered with now. Thalion rose to greet him, setting aside his teacup, on the table this time. Eidaroob nodded with an uninterested expression, then his gaze drove across the room.

It swept across Eleanor for a second without dwelling but lingered on Luna for a bit, who was sinking as deep into the couch as she could, her usual sass nowhere to be seen.

He paused completely at Adam though, who had looked at him for a second and then continued with his tea, ignoring him. This caused a frown on his face and he turned his piggy eyes and face to Thalion and voiced his query.

"You've told me about your family and now I've met them. But…you've never informed me of this yellow haired gentleman before"

At that Thalion spoke up

"This is-"

He was interrupted by the man in question.

Adam spoke with a bright smile and glistening eyes as he poured every ounce of charm he had into his—already alluring—visage.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Adam and also…"

Everyone stood in anticipation

Then Adam spoke the final words with the same serene smile.

"…Luna's Fiancée"

You could've heard a pin drop.
