[This chapter is an introduction to the world I've made. It primarily deals with the history, the power system, and the time frame.]
(It has some minor spoilers for the story.)
BRIEF HISTORY
The greatest variation between this world and the real one is the absence of globalization.
Nations did not have much culture, trade, or technological developments.
And then there is the fun part.
A child was born in the late 19th century who, according to all agreements, was never "meant to be."
In order for him to be born, the universe itself rearranged things at a quantum level.
He became a brilliant scientist—so brilliant that he was called "The Gatekeeper of the New Age."
He was given this nickname due to a revolutionary discovery:
Two new elements:
These elements were used by the scientist. to construct otherworldly ornaments.
Using these elements, he created eight powerful artifacts—eight coins that contained power beyond the reach of science.
FALL OF THE NEW AGE
This single action unleashed global tensions.
In 1999, a three-year world war began.
Like all wars, this one had no real winner.
All nations suffered huge losses.
Some nations lagged decades behind; others slid back by centuries.
The scientist passed away.
The eight coins disappeared—never to be heard of again.
RISE OF THE CORPORATION
Post-war, a megacorporation called Corpus Pvt. Ltd. provided relief and aid, gaining world control slowly.
Today, they dominate the majority of the world's trade and essentially most of the actions of the world. Directly or indirectly
They even have their own personal god, who also happens to be their symbol of power.
FUN FACTS
Nations in this world are stuck in various eras of development. Some of them are still in the 18th or 19th century, while others have progressed to a degree similar to the year 2050.[these years- eg. 18th 19th, are not used as there literal development more like what there culture looks like.( roads, buildings, clothes, aesthetics).]
Whenever I say a country, I'll put in its actual year and its look era, like so:
[LONDON – YEAR 2020, feels like-18th century]
