Chapter 119 – A Devil Among Angels
Her voice.
Warm. Sharp. Familiar.
Lux blinked. Took a step back.
There she was.
Selena.
Still in her battle form. Her wings extended, golden-feathered and glowing. Armor cracked and lined with residual light. Her blade still shimmered with celestial fire. Her entire body radiated divine pressure, the kind that made lesser beings faint just by standing nearby.
Several nearby angels started whispering louder.
Lux gave her a once-over.
"Hey," he said, voice dry. "You're back."
She frowned. "Are you okay?"
He paused.
Then nodded. "Yeah. Still in one piece. Got yelled at by a dog, but other than that, great."
Selena blinked. "What?"
He tilted his chin toward the retriever still growling quietly in the distance.
"Didn't appreciate my devil musk, apparently."
Her gaze followed his. "That's the retriever from before?"
"The majestic one. Yeah. Turns out I'm not his type."
