Axel!
After hearing that he too had gotten the book about Nightborns, I could only wonder what he wanted to do. The book was enormous and, according to Geoffrey, I'd get whatever information I needed in there.
For now, the only way to protect her was to stay away from her. According to the book, being close to her after marking her was dangerous for her. It was painful, but it had to be done until I could figure out how we could safely be together.
I wondered if Axel had found out anything, but I didn't have the heart to ask.
I summoned Michael later that day. "Did you find out who opened the East gate?"
He nodded. "Axel."
I clenched my fist tightly. It was just as I had suspected. I had to find a way to send him out of the Castle.
"Keep a closer eye on him. Did you find anything about Lord Cain?"
