Chapter 16 - "Anger."

-----

-----

Ever since Shadow-Spider came into the world, he never stopped learning. Jasper had no idea why Shadow-Spider loved learning so much.

Because of that, Jasper didn't really ask him to do much. Shadow-Spider was always buried in study mode.

Saturday.

Jasper was walking down a busy street in a black hoodie. The weather was pretty nice, and there were lots of people out and about.

After walking for a few minutes, just as he passed a tall building—Boom! An explosion tore through the crowd.

Jasper's spider-sense was screaming like crazy, warning him of danger. He dropped to the ground instantly.

The next second, a massive shockwave blasted him off his feet. This wasn't just some ordinary bomb—this was a modified bomb, way stronger than normal.

Even though Jasper managed to dodge most of the danger thanks to his spider-sense, he still got grazed. A shard of debris had cut his cheek.

What the hell just happened? Jasper twisted in mid-air and landed smoothly on his feet.

The sight that greeted him was horrifying: dozens of people on the ground, their bodies mangled, groaning in pain.

A severed arm lay just inches from his foot.

Was this a terrorist attack?

An intense rage welled up inside Jasper. A kind of fury he'd never felt before—not just because of the innocent people who had died, but also because he had been hurt.

"You've got a real annoying look in your eyes, kid,"A masked man said, walking over with a backpack slung over one shoulder and a pistol in hand.

Something about Jasper's eyes made the guy uncomfortable.

He pointed the gun straight at Jasper."Bye-bye!!"

Bang!!

He pulled the trigger.

The bullet shot out instantly——headed straight for Jasper's head.

Jasper tilted his head slightly, and the bullet zipped past harmlessly.

Then he dashed forward.

The man fired again and again, but none of the bullets hit. Jasper dodged every single one like it was nothing.

In the blink of an eye, Jasper was right in front of him.

The guy tried to pull the trigger again, but Jasper grabbed the gun and crushed it in his hand like it was made of plastic.

Now the guy couldn't shoot.

And he finally realized—this kid was dangerous. Seriously dangerous.

The next thing he knew, a sharp pain exploded in his gut. Before he even had time to register it, he was flying through the air.

Boom!!

His body slammed into a bus, denting it like it was a soda can.

He tried to move, but he couldn't.He could feel several of his bones were broken—some of them probably even piercing his internal organs.

Jasper walked toward him slowly, face dark and stormy. He casually picked up a motorcycle on the way——and was about to smash it down on the guy.

When Jasper stood over him, the man stared back calmly. He wanted to say something, but he didn't have the strength. All he could do was watch, helpless, as Jasper raised the motorcycle over his head—

Was this how it ended?Just when life was finally starting to look up?

Crash!!

A deafening sound filled the air.

But the motorcycle never hit.

Someone in a suit of armor had stopped it.

Iron Man looked at the furious boy in front of him and said,"Leave the rest to me. Killing isn't something you should do."

"He... he killed so many people... He... He deserves to die!!!" Jasper's voice was hoarse and trembling.

This was the first time he had ever seen so many people die, right in front of him, their bodies torn apart.

"Yeah, he deserves it," Iron Man said. "But the cops are on their way."

Jasper snapped back to reality.

He slowly lowered the motorcycle... and quietly walked away.

Iron Man watched him leave, deep in thought.

Soon after, the police and medics arrived.Tony Stark took charge of the rescue and also handled a few things that could've caused Jasper a lot of trouble.
