Chapter 3 - 17 years!

Near a massive king size bed, stood a young Eloise, in her twenties, with dazzling long black hair, cute brown eyes, 5'7 tall and a surprisingly well curved shape.

Eloise had a sour expression on her face, as she heard those words from Trixie. It was as if she had just been pierced in her heart by an arrow.

"Uh-huh come on girl." Trixie mumbled with a cute baby tone while she tried to cheer her sad friend.

"Lemme alone." Eloise mumbled under her breath as she played cute, removing Trixie's hands from her shoulder.

"Come on, you know I didn't mean it like that." Trixie uttered with a mischievous smile on her face as she continued teasing Eloise.

"Lemme alone."

Eloise sat on the side of the bed playing a cute angry baby as she enjoyed the moment.

Although it was not too deceiving. Trixie could see the sadness in her eyes as it was obvious why she had them.

"If you are that sad whenever I say that, then why don't you find yourself a boyfriend… huh?" Trixie proposed, while she sat next to her best friend.

"What boyfriend?" Elly asked, looking confused, as if she didn't know exactly what Trixie was talking about.

"I am saying go and find yourself a boyfriend if you feel bad every time I tease you for not having one."

The moment was soaked, as the air was dry. This was a topic that Eloise never liked talking about.

The idea of having a boyfriend.

It had never crossed her mind, or most of the time it had. However, why would she want a boyfriend when she has-

"Don't tell me you are still waiting for that boy??" Trixie imposed, while she stood in front of Eloise with a stern stare.

At the same time, Eloise turned to Trixie, with an expression that didn't say anything, however Trixie knew exactly what it meant.

"Girl… you need to forget about that boy and get yourself a man." Trixie exclaimed as she jumped off the bed with a displeased expression on her face.

"Look at you. 28 years and you still haven't kissed a guy."

The words hit Eloise hard, with her head down, her face turned pale and her eye almost watery, as if she was about to cry.

"I have told you countless times, even back when we were in university, when boys approached you to confess their feelings, you should have gone with one of them. No, but instead you chose to stay single waiting for some old promise to be fulfilled. This isn't a novel you know."

Eloise raised her heart gazing upon Trixie with a sad expression.

"But he did say he was going to come back no matter what happened." Her voice was trembling and her eyes were watery, but no tears dropped, as she tried her best to hold it in.

"Bullshit!"

Trixie fired.

"And where have that gotten you."

At this moment, Trixie did a 360 degree turn, and then faced Elly one more time.

"Girl open your eyes. That promise was 17 years ago.

For all we know, he could not even be on this planet anymore. He didn't even tell you where he was going."

Hearing this, Elly gazed onto the ground, while she thought about her life. She nodded and then cleaned the tears that were about to fall.

"Damn, how could I have been this blind. Fate really has done me good this time."

Upon hearing these statements from her best friend, Trixie bent down to Eloise and helped her clean her face with a cloth she took from her bed.

"Fate didn't do you anything," she began. "It was just that, he had you fooled all this while. When a promise like that is made, it isn't something that could easily be kept."

After swiping her face and dropping the cloth back on the bed, Trixie held Eloise face with both her hands and uttered with a calm and sweet voice.

"You know you are my best friend, and I would never lie to you. All I want is for you to be happy. I don't like seeing you sad as you were just a moment ago.

Although, that wouldn't stop me from telling you what is right, from what is wrong."

At the spectacular moment, Eloise nodded, as she heard the sweet and gentle words from her best friend.

And afterwards, she was hugged by T.

"Come on. Let's go and eat before our breakfast gets cold." Trixie uttered, as she held Eloise's hand led her to the living room.

..

At the dining table, near the kitchen, Trixie brought some plates for them to use and eat.

Meanwhile, Eloise was seated, arranging the plates and fruits close to each other, when suddenly she felt something scratching her legs.

"Ow!" She exclaimed, quickly taking a look at her feet.

"Oh it's you Musky." She mumbled with a sigh of relief. "I'll get your food done quickly."

Beneath her was a puffy grey and brown himalayan cat. Its eyes gloomy like a dead fish. It had a massive body with lots of hair around it, presenting the reason why Eloise called him Musky.

Upon hearing that she was going to begin preparing his meal, Musky found her way to a small chair and table, just the right size for her to sit in-between.

It was her own dining table, and she knew very well that it was the place she needed to be whenever it was food time.

..

Eloise finished and went to Musky. She carefully placed a plate of Royal Canin cat meal, on his table, alongside a bowl of fresh milk.

Musky waited patiently for Eloise to finish before digging in, showing a thanks to her master before eating.

..

Afterwards, Eloise went back to the dining table where Trixie had already served both plates.

On the dining table were various dishes alongside the Omelet. It wasn't lavish but, was the right balance diet. There were different fruit and desserts, as well as mixed rice sauce.

They both talked and laughed while eating, as they were enjoying themselves. Although among the both of them, Eloise was the one who seemed to be enjoying herself the most

However she didn't know what was waiting ahead of her. She couldn't anticipate that her life would take a drastic turn on her first day for work.

And it was just the beginning of how her number one challenger was going to deal with her.
