The three rushed back to the institute. It was around 9:30 PM. Pierre called a car from the institute to deliver them, Dianne, Pierre, Elena, back to the institute per Dianne's request. Out of working hours, the institute car would turn into automated mode. It was Pierre's idea because he does not drive so he asked the engineering unit to build an automated car for him to go around Granitz. Dianne gained a lot of impressions when listening to Elena explain about the automated car. The military camp in Granitz heard of this invention, they came one day and asked our engineering unit to build them an automated tank and other military arms for them.
We had no choice but to follow. Elena finished her talk. Pierre said nothing. Not too long.
The three arrived at the institute, went up to Dianne's lab where her cybernetic arm rested. " We have a quantum parallel chip, right?" Dianne asked Pierre, with excitement. "Yes, three chips are in the supply unit." Pierre answered her. "Good! I will order one" Dianne said and opened the console to the supply unit but she could not find it. "It is our cutting-edge, and precious property, Dianne." Elena said. "Without permission from the Director, chief scientist, and chief engineer, it cannot be deployed." Elena added. "Pierre can approve you as a director and I as a chief scientist, we still need a permission from chief engineer – Freja." Elena said. "Freja will not allow us." Pierre told Elena. "Yeah, I know her well," Elena added. "She would want all the prototype by herself and hand it to the military" Elena continued. Dianne still does not fully understand what the military wants from her cybernetic arm besides for medical reasons. But isn't it a good reason? "Your work Dianne, Your transmission algorithm that can transmit signal without degradation under 12 ms in a classical chip, this is the real breakthrough" Pierre explained. "Imagine, you implanted a chip in a soldier, with your algorithm, the chip can boost a soldier's reflexive function beyond the standard perception. They can dodge, catch any harm as fast as your algorithm allows – like a super soldier" Pierre finished his sentence while Dianne murmured the same word. Dianne did not think to this point that her works can be used as a weapon. This was too much for her. She rolls her ring, reminding her of Markus, her husband who was also a soldier. What would Markus do? Will he take her work and transform it to a weapon? Dianne sat down, her face displaying disappointment
" I allowed it," Pierre said. "I allowed you, Dianne," Elena backed up. Dianne looked at the two. "What about Freja?" Dianne asked. "Freja is my business," Pierre told her. "Let's go to the supply unit. If it's only Freja's permission, I can handle it." Pierre said and reached his hand to her. Dianne grabbed his hand, he helped her stand again. His warmth, calm, and ambition drove her forward. "Thank you, Pierre, Elena too," Dianne said. Her chest filled with the two. Elena's optimism and Pierre's calm, intellectual, made her want to know more about him. Her heartbeat ran faster. Why am I excited? Dianne thought when looking at Pierre.
Upon reaching the supply unit, Pierre entered the console, opened the parallel quantum chip, a chip that used quantum entanglement for parallel computations. It was a pair of chips. One would be stored somewhere in a cooling room to maintain its quantum state during processing, while its entangled chip can be implanted and send a signal, via entanglement form, to the chip in the cooling room to process the signal and send the resulting signal back. The quantum entanglement is said to exist at any distance. A perfect choice for her cybernetic arm as it requires a minimal data transfer. By implanting one on the arm, her algorithm decodes the brain wave, the implanted chip sends the decoding to its entangled chip in the cooling room. No heat generated, no tissue damage, the latency is now dependent on her decoding algorithm.
"Pierre Therma hereby approves Dianne Scholz for securing object-ID-Q0"
Pierre spoke to the console.
"Elena Ornstein hereby approves Dianne Scholz for securing object-ID-Q0"
Elena turned. Nothing happened. The panel was blinking waiting for the last approval – Freja Feta. She was currently in a conference in Jepun. Pierre lifted his watch up, a panel displayed in the air. He then spoke
"Freja Feta hereby approves Dianne Scholz for securing object-ID-Q0"
Pierre spoke, but his voice sounded like an old lady.
"It is Freja's voice," Elena said. Elena and Dianne stared at Pierre, unable to drift their eyes away. His watch hid the voice transmutation's function. What else is he hiding? – Dianne thought. After receiving Freja or Pierre in Freja's voice, a robot moved and ran to somewhere. "What was that Pierre?"Elena and Dianne voiced, asking about his recent action. "It is a sound's pressure manipulation grid," Pierre answered. "It used an infrared frequency to change the vibration of sound waves, technically, a voice transmutator" Pierre summarized. "Yeah we know, but you had it in your watch, what else do you hide in there?" Elena insisted Pierre, Dianne also wanted to know. But Pierre kept his mouth shut. A few minutes later, that robot came with a steel bag, fallproof, water and any hazardous proof, indicating the importance of this material. Pierre took the bag. "Easy, right" he grabbed and smiled, in contrast to what Dianne has seen from him since she arrived at this island. His big smile, like a kid's got a new toy. Even Elena displayed an unbelievable expression when seeing Pierre's big smile. Her face was red, blushing, eyes filled with happiness. Dianne was unable to hide her joy, as she approached Pierre and closed the gap between them, she put her lip on his. Pierre, without hesitation, responded to her kiss. Their tongues entwined for a moment until Elena made a cough to interrupt Dianne's action. Dianne – at that moment – she had forgotten her husband completely and felt like a youthful woman again, that she had been lost for many years. Dianne recalled her consciousness by Elena's interruption. She turned to Elena who was glaring at her, Elena's eyebrows nearly tied together. "Elena…I…I'm…s" Dianne was struggling for her recent action. But Elena came closer. Dianne thought she would have been slapped by her. Instead Elena kissed Dianne. It was not just a simple stealing kiss. Elena also aroused Dianne and teased her body a little. Dianne nearly lost her mind as she began to lower her guard against Elena down. Pierre, though, enjoyed watching the scene but the three had more important task tonight. He interrupted the two and led them out of the supply unit. Before leaving Dianne talked to Elena.
"Elena…I'm sorry…I was just too excited." Dianne apologized with a small voice, showing her mixing emotion of excitement and guilt. "No need to apologize to Dianne, he was so attractive, wasn't he?" Elena replied with a teasing tone and gave Dianne a wink. Dianne did not respond because she felt guilty. " This is our secret. Let it sit here" Elena whispered then walked away with a small humbling.
After Pierre and Elena, and Pierre in Freja's voice allowed, they rushed to Dianne's lab and started to implant the chip to Dianne's cybernetic arm. Calibrating, Coding, Testing, .., the three fell in this loop until morning came. When the sun rises through the window of the FRI. The cybernetic arm is stable, driven by a quantum parallel chip. Its decoding latency is at 5 ms. Faster than any human perception. A breakthrough from Dianne Scholz.
