After Mikoto killed Uchiha Fugaku, Byakuya officially took control of the Uchiha clan.
Although many members were initially shocked by Mikoto's actions, the incident caused little disturbance within the clan. During Fugaku's tenure as clan head, the Uchiha had experienced steep decline and growing discontent. His failure to resist Konoha's political suppression and his suspected involvement in the mysterious death of the previous patriarch, Uchiha Moto, had already left his reputation in ruins.
For many, Mikoto's act was not just revenge for her father, but a long-overdue purge of weakness. As such, Fugaku's death was soon treated as a footnote—quickly forgotten by most of the clan.
With Fugaku gone, a new leader was needed. Among all Uchiha, the one with the most strength, charisma, and decisive leadership was Byakuya. Without dissent, every shinobi in the clan rallied behind him, unanimously supporting Byakuya as the new patriarch.
Under his leadership, the Uchiha clan rapidly regained its former prestige.
"Mikoto, how do you feel now?" Byakuya asked calmly.
"Lord Byakuya, I've fully awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan," Mikoto replied, steady and resolute.
"My abilities are Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi."
Byakuya raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. "Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi? Just like Uchiha Itachi..."
In the original timeline, those eyes had belonged to Itachi. But with Byakuya's arrival and the ripple it caused, the course of events had shifted. Itachi had never awakened the Mangekyō—or perhaps never even been born. Byakuya had assumed that such powerful ocular abilities would never reappear.
And yet, here they were—reborn in Mikoto.
"Those are formidable techniques," he said. "But the Mangekyō places a heavy toll on the user. You haven't evolved it further yet, so limit their use for now."
"I understand, Lord Byakuya."
Just then, Nara Shikaku stepped silently out of the shadows.
"Lord Byakuya, I have urgent intelligence."
Byakuya turned to him. "What is it, Shikaku?"
Mikoto, recognizing the gravity of the moment, respectfully withdrew.
Shikaku spoke in a low voice. "The Sarutobi, Mitokado, and Utatane clans have all mobilized. Anbu operations have also increased in frequency and scope. Based on our observations, I believe Sarutobi Hiruzen is preparing a strike against the Uchiha clan."
As one of the leaders of the Ino–Shika–Chō alliance and a man known for his strategic brilliance, Shikaku's insights were not taken lightly. Their clan was quietly aligning with the Uchiha, and this report was a calculated move to build trust with Byakuya.
More importantly, Shikaku knew that even if he said nothing, Byakuya was perfectly capable of wiping out any force Sarutobi Hiruzen threw at him. But delivering early intelligence was a favor—and in the world of shinobi, favors from powerful men could shape the future.
"So... Sarutobi is making his move at last," Byakuya muttered.
As a reincarnated traveler, Byakuya understood the darker side of Konoha's leadership all too well. In the original history, Sarutobi tolerated the Uchiha only while they remained politically useful. Once the Nine-Tails Rebellion occurred, Hiruzen had allowed—or at least failed to stop—the complete massacre of the clan under the pretense of maintaining peace.
But this time, things were different.
With Fugaku gone and Byakuya as leader, the Uchiha clan had turned the tables. It was now the Hokage who walked on thin ice.
"I'll make sure Sarutobi Hiruzen learns what it means to challenge the Uchiha," Byakuya said coldly.
After passing the information to Byakuya, Nara Shikaku quietly left the Uchiha compound.
"Haha… If Sarutobi Hiruzen really has the guts, let him come…"
"I'm just short on negative energy anyway…"
Byakuya couldn't help but sneer in his heart.
…
Late at night, dark clouds loomed overhead, casting a heavy atmosphere across Konoha.
A team of shinobi lay in ambush near the Uchiha clan's territory.
"Sarutobi, the ninja forces from both our clans are in position…"
Utane Koharu and Mitokado Homura reported quietly to Hiruzen Sarutobi.
There was no doubt—tonight was the night they would strike the Uchiha clan.
Standing beside them was Danzo Shimura.
Though the Shimura clan and the Root organization had already been annihilated by the Uchiha, Danzo himself remained a formidable shinobi—one still valuable to their operation.
That's why, prior to the mission, Hiruzen had Danzo discreetly extracted from the village gate where he had been publicly humiliated and imprisoned.
"Sarutobi, should we inform Jiraiya and Namikaze Minato?"
"They're both incredibly strong. Having them would increase our chances of wiping out the Uchiha."
Utane Koharu's suggestion was met with a firm shake of the head.
"No. Jiraiya's personality doesn't suit this kind of operation."
Sarutobi Hiruzen's voice was low, but decisive.
"He wouldn't help us—he'd interfere."
He was right.
Jiraiya's ideals would never align with an attack on the Uchiha. Minato Namikaze was the same—too principled, too idealistic.
In short, they couldn't be trusted to carry out this purge.
To ensure success, Hiruzen had only gathered shinobi who would unquestionably obey his orders.
"Sarutobi, what are you waiting for!?"
"Let's move now!"
"The Uchiha clan must be wiped out tonight!"
Danzo Shimura was nearly trembling with anticipation.
He had long harbored ambitions of eradicating the Uchiha, but in the past, Hiruzen had always hesitated.
Now, after the annihilation of his Root forces and the fall of the Shimura clan, Danzo's hatred had reached its peak.
He wanted revenge—swift, brutal, and absolute.
"Begin the assault."
With Hiruzen's command, waves of Konoha shinobi surged forward, charging straight toward the Uchiha compound.
