Alicia's POV

"I've been looking for you for five years. Where have you been?"
I froze the moment I stepped out of the kitchen and picked up the call. I had answered too quickly, without checking the caller ID.
I glanced down at the screen—it was an unknown number.
Who could it be?
Or worse… was it someone threatening me? And why was this person mentioning five years ago?
The same year I had dropped out. The same year I changed my number, after my father made sure I lost all contact with my old life.
The year I got this scar.
The year stained with bitter memories.
"Alicia," the voice said louder now, snapping me from my thoughts.
I tilted her head slightly, trying to place the voice—trying to remember.
I walked slowly toward the living room couch, my gaze drifting to the glass wall overlooking the city. I sat down, phone pressed firmly to my ear, and spoke softly.
"Who is this?"
"Oh—my bad. I totally forgot we lost contact. It's me… Kelly."
