The Butterfly Shadow Blade was a special technique Marcus had taught them, but neither Bruce nor Selina had ever executed it successfully before.
This move required tremendous force to perform effectively. They had barely met the minimum requirements until they received the battle suits from Marcus.
BOOM! BOOM!
In their hands, the daggers erupted with great force as they pierced fiercely into the ground.
The powerful impact created explosive shockwaves the moment the blades struck the concrete.
The charging beast-men killers were all blown away by this overwhelming force.
The surroundings instantly descended into chaos. The bodies of these beast-men were extraordinarily heavy—even when sent flying, they suffered little damage.
In fact, the toxins in their bodies were activated by the strong impact. Not only did the beast-men closest to the pair remain uninjured, they became even stronger. Their clothes tore as their muscles expanded, and they prepared to attack with renewed ferocity.
"They're still too inexperienced," Marcus observed from his vantage point.
He understood what his students were attempting—using the shockwave from the Butterfly Shadow Blade to break through the siege. But they had clearly underestimated these enhanced beast-men killers.
As he spoke, all the razor butterflies surrounding him flew toward Bruce and Selina.
While the razor butterflies provided minimal protection for someone of Marcus's power, for Bruce and Selina, they offered significant defense.
When the razor butterflies reached them, both Bruce and Selina smiled with relief.
They knew exactly how effective the razor butterflies were. During their earlier days being hunted, they had relied on a single razor butterfly left by Marcus to ensure their safety.
Now they had six razor butterflies surrounding them, plus the enhancement from their battle suits. These beast-men no longer seemed as intimidating.
With renewed confidence, they rose from the ground and rushed toward the weakest point in the encirclement.
"Spine Render!"
Bruce's dagger drew a white arc through the air as he stabbed forcefully toward one of the beast-men.
As he moved, the razor butterflies around him shot toward the beast-man killer at incredible speed.
Chiii! Chiii! Chiii!
The beast-man's body was instantly pierced by the razor butterflies, blood flowing from multiple wounds.
Bruce's dagger penetrated directly through the creature's torso, crushing its spine.
The severe injury caused the beast-man killer to go berserk. The toxin device implanted in its body began operating frantically.
Its dark red blood gradually turned green as it transformed into a dangerous toxin that dispersed into the air.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The beast-man with the crushed spine thrashed wildly as its arms swelled rapidly. With half its body paralyzed, it slammed repeatedly into the ground.
The dust from the ground mixed with the airborne toxins, creating a hazardous environment for Bruce and Selina.
As a precaution, they both activated their battle suits' masks to full-coverage mode, protecting themselves from the toxic air.
"Be careful—these toxins pose a serious threat to us," Bruce warned Selina.
He had reviewed test reports on the gas masks earlier and knew the toxin could be extremely dangerous to the human body.
Just as they prepared for their next attack, the Talon stepped forward from among the beast-men. Two long knives gleamed in his hands, reflecting the dim light.
Seeing this owl-masked killer, Selina and Bruce exchanged solemn glances.
This Talon was clearly formidable. He had easily deflected the kunai Bruce had thrown earlier.
With his battle suit's enhancement, Bruce's kunai carried enough force to embed deeply in a concrete support wall.
Yet the Talon had effortlessly deflected the projectiles—a feat beyond ordinary human capability.
"We need to be careful with this one. He's dangerous," Selina cautioned.
She had always possessed a natural sensitivity to danger. Even before gaining her enhanced powers, this instinct had helped her survive on Gotham's streets.
The Talon moved with fluid precision, both blades spinning in his hands as he assessed his opponents. Unlike the mindless beast-men, this assassin fought with calculated intelligence.
Bruce remembered a technique Marcus had taught them—one they had never successfully used before. It required tremendous force, and only now with their battle suits did they barely meet the minimum requirements.
"The Butterfly Shadow Blade," Bruce whispered to Selina. "Now might be our chance to use it properly."
The Talon lunged forward, both blades aimed at Bruce. But Bruce was ready.
Together, he and Selina executed the Butterfly Shadow Blade technique. Their daggers erupted with tremendous force as they plunged them into the ground.
BOOM! BOOM!
The powerful shockwave sent the charging Talon flying backward, along with several beast-men who had been approaching.
But the technique had an unexpected effect. The beast-men's bodies, though hurled through the air, were not seriously damaged. Instead, the violent impact activated the toxins in their systems even more intensely.
As they rose from the ground, their muscles began swelling dramatically, tearing through their remaining clothing.
"They're getting stronger from the impact," Selina realized with alarm.
The Talon also recovered quickly, rolling to his feet with predatory grace. If anything, he seemed pleased by their display of power—now he knew exactly what kind of opponents he was facing.
Bruce felt his battle suit's energy reserves dropping rapidly after using the technique. They would need to end this fight soon, before their enhanced abilities failed them entirely.
